No sale. That is a ridiculous way to have the discs. Just about as dumb as the Comic Store Guy packaging of the Simpsons. It unfolded and you had to slide the disc inbetween the cardboard. The disc could get scratched. Don't studios realize people don't want to have their dvds kept that way ?

The SRP is 79.95, it will be cheaper on Amazon and stuff. For the diehard Scooby fan like mysef, this is probably worth a double dip for the packaging and the bonus disc.

That is the main reason I never picked up that season of the Simpsons. I really wish Fox would re-release it with new packaging. (or have they??? hopefully...)

I'm in for this! I don't own any of them on DVD, so, I'm in luck by waiting to get this set. However, I'm not understanding how this packaging works. It shows only one disc sticking up. Where are the others? Forgive me if I'm not understanding how the discs are stored, but, I can't really tell by the packaging shots.

What is included in this Complete Series set is the original two-season run of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You from 1969-70 (two seasons for a total of 25 episodes) and the 'third season' of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You from 1978 (16 episodes), which that Wikipedia article refers to as the third season of The Scooby-Doo Show. The episodes here were previously released in the two Scooby-Doo, Where Are You season sets ('The Complete 1st and 2nd Seasons' and 'The Complete Third Season').

Ok, this should be right: All episodes were 30 minute segments except for the "movies", which were 60 minutes (~20 and 40 minutes not including commercials).

Trevor, your table is correct (including the fact that scrappy episodes do not exist). As an additional note the episode "Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats" from the Laff-a-Lympicss is available on Scooby's Scariest Tales dvd.

Does anyone know why these 8 episodes aren't being included anywhere? I would gladly suffer a double dip of the series for these additional 8 episodes, including one of my top 5, "The Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race".

I'm guessing it's just a 'logistics' thing of how to release them. Everything released has been released as it originally aired (with the partial exception of the 'third season' of Where Are You), meaning the episodes that originally aired as a package have been released that way (ie Scooby/Dynomutt). But, in the case of those eight episodes, they aired with Laff-A-Lympics, and it looks like the Laff-A-Lympics episodes are getting released on their own, so how would they release those 8 episodes?

The packaging is a cool idea but the way the discs are stored is stupid. Why not just have the back portion of the van hollowed out and the discs in paper sleeves or a digipack of some kind? I hate discs that are stacked on top of one another. I still might be interested in this since I haven't picked any of the Scooby releases up.

Well according to chart above, there shoul be 89 episodes of PS scooby-doo, yet this set only has 41 episodes on 7 discs, so its not even all of it.

You are correct.

The issue is that there were several runs of pre-scrappy Scooby-Doo, the original Where are You?, The New Scooby-Doo Movies, and what is known as The Scooby-Doo show, which was teamed with other shows (Dyno-Mutt, Laff-a-Lympics) during the original run and is considered a different, hour long, series as far as original complete television seasons are concerned. For whatever reason the Scooby portion of Scooby-All Stars was released as Where Are You? season 3, skipping right over the Laff-a-Lympics season. If the Laff-a-Lympics gets a complete release, we can hope that the Scooby portions are included, but for right now it looks as if this "complete" series only applies to the already released Where Are You? seasons.

From what I remember as a kid, all the Scooby episodes were in syndication and mixed with each other, sometimes without the matching half-hour of the other cartoon, regardless of how they were originally aired. As a Scooby completist, I just care about the Scooby episodes. Sure I enjoy Dyno-Mutt, but I wouldn't have purchased that set if it wasn't for the Scooby-Doo portion. I really just want the final 8 episodes and that calling this set "Complete", while technically accurate, is load double-dipping bullcrap.

I didn't buy the season 3, just looked that has 16 ep, so with the S1-2 set has 25 episodes, all you get is the package. The 1-hr specials with Batman and Globetrotters comes in "The New Scooby-Doo Movies" but lacks those 9 ep which were most of the best, are those other 9 out on anything?

I just bought it at Target, where it looks like an exclusive. It comes in two volumes of 4 episodes each, $10n per iirc. Volume 1 includes bonuses of two digital episodes, and an episode from the series Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue.</s>

Actually, the more I look at it, I'll have to retract my post. Those Target releases (and volume 1 is everywhere now, with volume 2 going everywhere come October) appear to be just the Laff-A-Lympic segments of the two hour block. Sorry!

I got excited at the possiblility of the "missing" episodes being released with the current Laff-a-Lympics discs, but was very sad to see these only include the Laff-a-Lympics segments. I can hoping that Laff-a-Lympics will get a full season release, including the Scooby-Doo Show segments.

I don't expect the unreleased New Scooby-Doo Movies to ever be available legitimately, the rights negotiations are probably a nightmare. iirc that set was had a higher than usual MSRP when it was released, most likely due to royalties, etc. The current Best of set contains all released episodes, there's no need to buy the Batman and Globetrotters single releases.

Just the same place where everything ever made is freely available.

But I doubt that we'll ever get a legitimate release of all of those episodes. too many multiple company rights issues.
