Re: Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (September 28)
Holy sheet, this movie was awesome! Here's the new rule of blind buying DC animated films, buy the ones directed by Lauren Montgomery! Wonder Woman is still the best DC animated, but this one is second best.
The action in this movie is epic!
here are the fights:
great story too. Only this film and Wonder Woman made me tear up because Lauren Montgomery is currently the best superhero cartoon director.
I thought that batman under the red hood was okay, but after watching Apocalypse, Red Hood seens like even more of an okay Batman episode. Wonder Woman and Apocalypse feels more like animated movies rather than long tv episodes.
The musical score was really amazing as well.
I highly recommend this to everyone - I never liked Supergirl as well in the comic books, but this movie is the best for giving some respect to Supergirl.
The blu-ray is of excellent video and audio quality.
Furthermore, the Green Arrow short is freaking awesome as well.
Definite blind buy for anyone on the fence about this bluray.
Darkseid is so awesome - he just is such a better villain than Lex Luthor!

Futureshop (Canada) just listed an DVD/BluRay exclusive bonus disc with 2 Superman episodes, most likely will also be available at Target

Didn't think much of it, but I didn't like the original comic either. Jeph Loeb blew his wad with Long Halloween. There was simply too little story for something like this.
Although I agree with whoever said "Wonder Woman" was the best DC animated movie. That's without question.

In Canada, went to a large Bestbuy and didn't have the figure for the DVD version. I also found it weird they put the disc infront of the box (I assume the figure is behind it) and can't be seen.
Is this the way it was packaging at Bestbuy US?
Thanks

No, here the figure is in front of the discs (w/slipcover) housed in a little plastic "nest" visible through the outer box. Virtually the same packaging as the "Crisis on Two Earths" set; the figures are the same scale, too.

watched it. liked it, but not nearly as much as i liked public enemies. i will say, they really did a good job not telegraphing the fight at the end. i was pretty much thinking the movie was over and then bam! darkseid again!
one thing i don't understand, is i thought his omega rays would kill anyone, including supes. is that not the case? i don't follow the comics.

I watched this over the weekend and really enjoyed it. I haven't seen Public Enemies or Under the Red Hood but have seen all the other DC direct to DVD annimated flicks and I have to say that Apocalypse is easily the best of the bunch (followed closely by Wonder Woman). It played out like a long episode of Justice League Unlimited, which I loved.
