Same here. Too much to do that's going to get neglected for next month. Of course that's why there's no 100 movie goal. Honestly, this is a place-holder challenge. A chance to watch some good movies, but at a more casual rate.

I don't understand the mini series count, specifically for "I, Claudius" it's thirteen episodes - so how does it round up to the specific number of entries?

It's the same as the Sci Fi challenge.
It might end up with a fraction at the end of the challenge. I Claudius is about an hour an episode, so 13 = 6 1/2 entries.
TV shows count according to length as they are aired on TV(including commercials):
* 30 minute shows count as 1/4 an entry
* 1 hour shows count as 1/2 an entry
* 2 hour shows count as 1 entry
So you need 4, 30 minute shows for 1 entry or 2 60 minute shows or any combination that gets you to 1 entry. While X-Files has a runtime of around 43 minutes, on-air it's an hour show.

Does "The Godfather" count towards the challenge? If not, can I use it as a wildcard?
Either way I'm loving the blu-ray of it.

It may be a little too late to ask, but (Aside from Paths of Glory,All Quiet On The Western Front) is there any other well-acclaimed WWI movies?

Other acclaimed World War I movies include Wooden Crosses (a French movie similar to All Quiet on the Western Front), Gallipoli (same, but a lesser known front except in Australia and New Zealand, where many of the Allied casualties came from), A Farewell To Arms (I've only seen the 1932 Frank Borzage version with Gary Cooper and Helen Hayes, not the 1957 remake), and The Grand Illusion.
Waterloo Bridge is about an affair between a prostitute and a soldier on leave in London-the 1931 version acknowledges that she is a prostitute, the 1940 remake makes her a dancer.

Two essential WWI films are Lawrence of Arabia and Sergeant York, a Gary Cooper classic.
Some more good WWI films would be King of Hearts, a charming French anti-war fable that I would love to see get a Criterion release, The Fighting 69th, a heavily fictionalized account of a real WWI battalion, with Jimmy Cagney, and for a change of pace, For Me and My Gal, a Judy Garland/ Gene Kelly musical, with WWI as an important aspect of the film's 3rd act.
FYI, tonight at 8 Eastern, TCM will show 24 hours of films set during the Korean War to commemorate the 60th anniversary of North Korea's invasion of the South that prompted the UN "police action"--the US never formally declared it a war.

A few WWI films I remember liking when I watched them: The Blue Max (1966), Wings (1927) and Hell's Angels (1930).
Your question made me realize that I haven't watched my copy of The Blue Max, so thanks for asking.

The Godfather is what this challenge was created for. It's also why I have tried to de-emphasize total numbers. I encourage watching longer stuff for this challenge. Have at it.

When Trumpets Fade sort of a dedication to the Hurtgen Forrest.
As a matter of fact, i may try to sneak this in before the deadline.

A WW I movie that I highly recommend is JOYEAUX NOEL about the unofficial Christmas Eve truce called by French, German and British troops in 1914. Really powerful! If you can't fit it in now, watch it during the Christmas Challenge.

question: can I include /number my Ghost Stories/Most Haunted tv shows and consider them as "Documentaries" since the hauntings are remnants of the past history of people and places ??

I don't think it's in the spirit (no pun intended) of the challenge, but I don't see any reason why not. We are allowing docs about humans and this is tangentially about humans. Go ahead.
