If you use Profiler, iMovies is an app that will pull your collection from the Profiler website. Not alot of features, but it works and may tide us over until Invelos comes out with their iPhone app.

I've found that using DVD Aficionado worked great as I can easily browse through my titles on the iPhone in the standard browser, and of course it's free.

jjcool - Thanks so much for pointing out the iMovies iPhone app! It is nothing fancy, but it does work and it appears that once my DVD Profiler database is loaded up that you don't need to use bandwidth to view it or show it to others. It seems you just use bandwidth when you re-download your database. The app warns of banner ads, but I don't see any on mine. At least it's something to have when you're at the store looking at what you ought to buy this week and asking yourself "do I already have this?"

I've been using Delicious Library (for my Mac/iPhone).

I use one called iCollect Movies, and it has licensed the Red Laser SDK for cataloging via barcodes. Also, the program allows you to export your collection via CSV file, although it doesn't export all of the info.

So far, I've been happy with the program. They update it fairly regularly.

Collectorz does. You can either buy one of the models they support or if you have one of the old free ones from Radio Shack, they work too.

Also the cool thing about Collectorz is that it supports several formats such as HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS, Laser Disk, and their database has them for several regions as well. So once you select the one you own it saves all the information including its cover into your computer and then you can transfer them into your iphone.

No internet required to browse through your collection since the data resides on your computer/iphone

Thats exactly what I wanted it for. I really dont like that it doesnt give me the format that I have of the owned titles. I would like to be able to tell whether I own smethign on DVD or BR, but I still have a pretty good grasp on what I have on what format in my collection at the moment.

I do like that I can access my lsit even if I dont have a signal. Assuming that I have recently downloaded the list so it is close to accurate.

I am real curious to see what Invelos comes up with for their iphone app.

Not trying to be argumentative or anything, but did you know that it's not actually called an itouch? Officially it's either an iPod touch, or just a touch. Just like the iPod nano is just called a nano (not an inano), and the iPod shuffle is just called a shuffle (not an ishuffle). People are just so used to saying "iPhone" that they want to call the touch an "itouch," even though it's not really its name. :)

Anyway, I've always loved and supported DVD Profiler. They mentioned creating an iPhone version a while back, and I can't wait until it comes out.

Just from some quick reading Collectorz kinda defeats the purpose of an iphone. So you buy a scanner and keep track of everything on the PC? I'm holding an iphone capable of scanning and keeping track of everything. Not only that, it's $10 per media type just to sync to? :lol: Am I missing something here?

:up: Now this sounds more along the lines of what I was thinking an iphone app should do. I'll have to check that out.

i'm using Delicious Library on my imac to catalogue my books and CDs but i didn't know that i could export my collection to the iphone - how do you do that please?

You have to 'find' the Delicious Library program. They had to remove it because Amazon whined about them using their database. It's out there if on the internet...

It's $10 for the movie software. There's different software for video games, music, books, comics.

Not to be argumentative, though I usually am, but I would rather have an app be home computer based, with the ability to access my list remotely. I dont really see the need to enter in a title to the collection when I am not at home with access to my computer. In fact, the only time that a title that I have paid for is not in my databse is the time between when I pay for it, and when I get it home. I cant really think of a time where I would want to input a title away from my computer, but maybe that is just me.

To top it off, if I did go to an iPhone only app for database management I would have to reenter the entire collection, which is a pain in and of itself, but many of my titles dont have barcodes to scan, due to the use of custom covers.

sweet, iMovies works great just to see my DVDProfiler collection. They changed the name to "My Movies Rack" now.

More importantly, is there one that allows you to use the camera to scan the barcode (like RedLaser) to populate the database? THAT I would gladly pay for.

They keep saying it is in development. There are features in the newest version of profiler that specificaly reference an iPhone app.

I use iCollect, but it's quite troublesome that I have a 3G iPhone, since I upgraded to iOS4, and everything is pretty slow.

iCollect allows you to either barcode scan, or enter manually, which is something I actually liked since I have a few DVDs which are independently made but still want to be able to keep track of.

It's not free though.

I have been waiting for a good sale on Clz Movies since I last posted but it seems like they only ever go down to $5. Any DL users have experience with this one? Also to the people who previously talked about it how has it preformed for you over time?

I'm relatively sure that everybody already knows this, but just in case you've been living in a cave - the iPhone app for DVD Profiler has been out for a few weeks now and it's great! It's a little quirky to get your collection initially set up in it, but after you get your collection into it, it's wonderful.

Have you tried entering/scanning a disc from the iPhone and have it sync up successfully? I still haven't been able to get that to work. Other than that, I like it.

I use the profiler app.

Still quirky.
I had over 1300 discs loaded in, the the app stopped synching with the pc version so I had to open a
second database.

That one works but now I have a phantom disc in my collection that has no picture or data
to indicate what it is and I can't delete it.
So I might have to delete this database and re up from the computer again.

i really like the dvd profiler app - works well on the iphone & on the ipad. i think it was worth the wait :)

Follow it on Appshopper and they will e-mail you when there is a sale. Last time it was on sale was Dec.

I ended up getting it up last night. It seems nice from the small demo collection that comes with it. When you want to update it from the pc software, it can do it with wireless.

I'm putting my collection on it now, so lets see how it is with a collection over 11,000.

edit: Seems to be just as responsive with a large collection. I'd say it's a good product.
