Is that app still working after the software updates or are they supporting it as a jailbroken app?

More importantly, is there one that allows you to use the camera to scan the barcode (like RedLaser) to populate the database? THAT I would gladly pay for.

They keep saying it is in development. There are features in the newest version of profiler that specificaly reference an iPhone app.

I use iCollect, but it's quite troublesome that I have a 3G iPhone, since I upgraded to iOS4, and everything is pretty slow.

iCollect allows you to either barcode scan, or enter manually, which is something I actually liked since I have a few DVDs which are independently made but still want to be able to keep track of.

It's not free though.

I have been waiting for a good sale on Clz Movies since I last posted but it seems like they only ever go down to $5. Any DL users have experience with this one? Also to the people who previously talked about it how has it preformed for you over time?

I'm relatively sure that everybody already knows this, but just in case you've been living in a cave - the iPhone app for DVD Profiler has been out for a few weeks now and it's great! It's a little quirky to get your collection initially set up in it, but after you get your collection into it, it's wonderful.

Have you tried entering/scanning a disc from the iPhone and have it sync up successfully? I still haven't been able to get that to work. Other than that, I like it.

Re: DVD collection apps for itouch/phone?

I use the profiler app.

Still quirky.
I had over 1300 discs loaded in, the the app stopped synching with the pc version so I had to open a
second database.

That one works but now I have a phantom disc in my collection that has no picture or data
to indicate what it is and I can't delete it.
So I might have to delete this database and re up from the computer again.

Follow it on Appshopper and they will e-mail you when there is a sale. Last time it was on sale was Dec.

I ended up getting it up last night. It seems nice from the small demo collection that comes with it. When you want to update it from the pc software, it can do it with wireless.

I'm putting my collection on it now, so lets see how it is with a collection over 11,000.

edit: Seems to be just as responsive with a large collection. I'd say it's a good product.

BUMP! So what are folks using? I'm looking for a good phone app that will also allow filtering/tagging by aspect ratio of titles. bar code scan would be the bees knees.

Not sure if you want free or not. This appis free for 100 titles and $14.95 for unlimited. They do often run sales on the app.

I use DVDProfiler. I checked and while it's not set up to automatically filter by aspect ratio, you can set up tags that will allow for such filtering. It does have bar code scanning.

Re: DVD collection apps for itouch/phone?

Been spending the past couple days using the collectorz.com app- it isn't perfect in terms of being able to adjust details (a lot of them are wrong, and you can't change them) but great for keeping track of what I have- supports all existing formats and you can at least change the cover art if it's wrong, and add anything that isn't already listed.

Re: DVD collection apps for itouch/phone?

Been using DVDProfiler for years. It works well for what I use it for. As someone mentioned, it allows for "Tags" that you can use to sort your titles by any means you want. I have used the collectorz app fro comics, and I like it. Same deal there with user created tags. Makes it easy to sort however you want. What I like about the collectorz app, assuming the dvd one is the same as the comics one, is that it uploads to the cloud, whereas dvdprofiler keeps the database local.

Re: DVD collection apps for itouch/phone?

The PC or Mac apps are more versatile than the Phone Apps (Android/iPhone) as far as editing the details of your collection. I agree a great benefit is the cloud sync and then view from the phone app. If you don't want the phone app, you can always log into their cloud site and view your collection from a browser on your phone.

Re: DVD collection apps for itouch/phone?

I created a category called "Fucked-Up Shit" where I put all the religious, "educational" and such videos that I've picked up. I also have "Screwed-Up Release" where I put anything that's seriously flawed, like movies missing scenes or with botched audio (stuff that should have been sent back to the studios or thrown in the garbage.)

Haven't tried anything on the PC yet. My main issue is that they list technical details that are wrong, such as closed captions on Universal DVDs which have never had them, but all I really care about is knowing that I have the title, what edition it is if there's several, and what the cover looks like in order to spot any different ones out there.
