The Warlords 6/29
For those fans of Red Cliff ( like me ) get ready for The Warlords.
This movie preview was on the Red Cliff DVD and looks really good.
Jet Li stars. This is a definite pick up on release day. In the same
Red Cliff fashion.

If you can't wait, it's been available in Hong Kong, Australia, and the UK for a long long time. The Hong Kong disc has English for the extras too.

Re: The Warlords 6/29
After receiving this dvd and watching it I must say that it was a bit of a let down. Not enough battle scenes to hold this up to high praise. It was ok, but not as good as i hyped this one out to be. i was disappointed.

However, I still prefer the North American cut of RED CLIFF.

Re: The Warlords 6/29
WARLORDS is a war movie, not a kung fu movie. And it's about the effects of war on a man's soul and on his friendships. I thought Jet Li gave a great performance, the best I've seen him give, playing a cold-blooded character who sacrifices his relationship with his sworn brothers for power and what he thinks is a justifiable cause. It's quite a powerful film when you focus on the characters and the relationships. It's very different from its inspiration, Chang Cheh's BLOOD BROTHERS (1973), which is more of a traditional kung fu film and not as deep as WARLORDS (but still quite entertaining). I bought the Hong Kong R3 DVD a couple of years ago and that's what I watched. It's got tons of extras including about an hour of "Making of" segments that are English-subtitled and feature interviews with the four main actors and the action director, Ching Siu-Tung, as well as other personnel. The other special features, "The Warlords' Blog" and "117 Days: A Production Journal," are in Mandarin and Cantonese, depending on who's speaking, but don't have subtitles.
However, I still prefer the North American cut of RED CLIFF.
