Just because he has a lot of money doesn't mean he should just pony up for every little expense just so hardcore fans can be happy about buying DVD's. How many sales do you honestly think have been lost due to not having Ventura's commentary? How many do you really think would be gained by keeping his commentary intact? I'd wager that the loss/gain is incredibly minimal, at absolute best. Would it be nice as a fan and collector to have everything presented in its original, non-butchered form? You bet. Is it smart from a dollars and cents standpoint for Vince to pay for it when it would have little to no real impact? Nope, and there's the bottom line.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

It's a shockingly poor list. I re-read twice after to see if I had missed something. The truth is, this set is not the definitive release on Austin, it's the latest. This is for anyone who didn't buy The Stone Cold Legacy in 2008. Maybe the doc will be good, but the match list is horrible--little from WCW, practically nothing from ECW, and they couldn't find a few obscure matches from WWF?!?

Definitely not getting. These compilations are getting quite poor.

So crazy Sting has got me into TNA again, so what are a couple of good DVD's to get? Not really looking for PPV's but best of or compilation sets. I already have the Sting release.

If you're into recent happenings maybe Immortal Forever (if you've been following TV since Hogan/Bishoff you may wanna miss).

I enjoyed the Best of The Asylum Years, Jarrett King of the Mountain, History of TNA : Year 1 and Kurt Angle: Champion, they were all very solid. Plus can't really go wrong with one of X-Division sets or the Bloodiest Brawls. AJ's sets are decent too. Hope this helps.

Use the code HAPPY5 at DeepDiscount.com before 12:00 pm ET on Wednesday and you get $5 off any Blu-Ray.
I used it on The Ladder Match 2: Crash and Burn Blu-Ray and got it for $18.44 with free shipping and handling.
Use the same code - on my dads account - another $5.00 off and I got the Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart Blu-Ray
for $18.70 with free shipping and handling.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

According to WWEDVDNews, the first big WWE DVD/Blu-ray release for 2012 will be RAW & Smackdown: Best of 2011;

We can exclusively reveal that Raw and Smackdown: The Best of 2011 will be released by WWE in 2012, which covers both shows in one larger set.

We can also confirm this will be a 4-Disc DVD title, also available on Blu-ray (which will be 3-Disc). This will be the first major release of the year, on January 31st in the United States.

For the WWE Universe, there are 4 hours of appointment television every week, as Raw on Monday nights and SmackDown on Friday nights continue to offer the most shocking, surprising, athletic, humorous, and dramatic moments on television. Now for the first time ever, the best of Raw and SmackDown are offered in one release–Raw and SmackDown: The Best of 2011. This 4-Disc DVD and 3-Disc Blu Ray release will include more than 11 hours of the best of Raw and SmackDown.

Includes the best, most outlandish, and controversial moments of the season including: The Rock’s return to WWE to become the most electrifying host in WrestleMania history Edge’s shockingly sudden retirement CM Punk’s game-changing antics and interviews and his caustic rivalry with John Cena The stunning removal of Mr. McMahon from power and Triple H’s ascension to WWE COO Randy Orton’s World Heavyweight Championship reign on SmackDown, and more!

Sounds pretty good than 2 separate releases which would be cheaper as well.

If it's going to be a cheaper way of owning the two Blu Rays, without losing out on content then I'm all for it. Anyways, I'm expecting my Bret Vs Shawn BD to arrive in the morning, has anyone seen it yet? Did you think it was as good as it looks?

Got to give them credit for waiting for 2011 to be over with before releasing this! Maybe they're finally realizing how ridiculous their previous marketing schemes were getting.

How sloppy are WWE getting? I've just realized that the covers for Hell In A Cell and Vengeance are almost exactly the same. Take the flame effects off of Cena, and it is:

Come to think of it, that PPV wasn't any good either except for the ending to the triple threat HAC match.

The Vengeance one is only the poster, not confirmed as the DVD artwork.

If it's not the cover, we will probably end up with an even shittier cover like Night Of Champions.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

Watching the Rumble match from 2009 on Orton's BD and i'm a little upset they started from his entry. They easily could've fit the entire match on there so it's frustrating that they didn't.

You mean the entrance is missing?
