? About Star Trek Nemesis DVD Region Code
This may be a dumb question but I found something odd, to me at least, on a recent purchase. I recently bought the two-disc collector's edition DVD of Star Trek: Nemesis off of Ebay. This was the edition that was originally released in 2005. My set has no disc artwork like the earlier(05) pressings but has the grayish appearance with printing, which I know is normal for the later(2007) pressings of these Paramount Star Trek DVDs, confirmed on DVD Talk and with Paramount to be normal. The seller has 100% feedback with a long history. The DVD was sealed in the factory plastic wrap and had the white security seal still intact on the top of the case.
Here's the oddity. The case states Region 1. The NTSC globe with the "1" in it. Both DVDs have the NTSC 1 globe symbol on the gray "artwork". On to the small, mirrored printed lettering around the DVD spindle areas. The special features DVD has the R with the "1" in parentheses in the reflective area around the spindle hole. On the movie DVD, there is an R with a "0" in parentheses.
Is this normal? I thought Region 0 DVDs were only used in the Philipines and China, and not in the US? Did I receive a genuine US-released DVD or was this an import?

The numbers printed on the spindles of DVDs are meant for internal reference only, and aren't designed to impart information to the consumer. For example, checking my 1-disc edition of Nemesis, there's no (R1) or (R0) present at all.
Also, looking at my R1 2-disc of First Contact, disc 1 does have (R0) printed on the spindle at the end of a number, and disc 2 has (R0). So it's normal, and your copy of Nemesis is likely a legit R1 copy.

Thanks for the help guys. It's good to know this is a legitimate Region 1 DVD. I wasn't even trying to look for the labeling in the middle. I just happened to look at the center to make sure the DVDs weren't cracked there and saw the "0" and it made me wonder. Thanks for setting me straight.
Jay, my 1-disc Nemesis is the same as yours. No R(0) or R(1) either.
