Yeah, ED1 on the left. It's just crumbling away. I'd rebuy them but they're evidently out of print and going for about $100 on Amazon.

Mine isn't screaming. Power goes through the switch but not the rest of the circuit board. I suspect a component is missing from the board. Can someone take a pic of thier board to compare with mine?

Bruce was in town for a con and I thought about taking these to have him sign them but didn't have the free time.

My Book Of The Deads (including the original one) are still in superb condition!

Living in California were recently drought is prevalent and heat surrounds mostly the entire 4 seasons.

my advise is:

If the Book Of The Deads were opened, in order to preserve mint condition state it is best advised to be placed near a moisture pack

I am thinking about moisturizing my copies, anyone have any experience?

General ED2 question: I have the 25th anniversary Bluray edition and I was wondering if there were any special features that are only on some DVD version I need to find?

I have the version from Evil Dead 2. Just checked mine and it’s still in relatively good shape. The paint on the eye with the sound effect button is a little cracked, but it might have been that way when I bought it. The sound effect doesn’t work anymore.

Battery is likely dead, is there anywhere you could swap it out?

Yeah, I’m sure the battery is dead. As far as I can tell there’s no place to get the compartment to change it. The whole book is a rubbery material and it must be somewhere underneath. I’d probably just ruin it trying to get to it. Kind of a dumb design.

I think the same will be true of my 66 Batman complete series set one day. It plays part of the theme but I don’t see a place where I can change the battery (it still works now though).

I just looked at mine, and aside from the strange odor..... and dead battery, it's looking quite pristine.

I picked my Evil Dead 2 up a couple of years ago, and the front split a bit. It's not actually all that obvious (to the extent I forget which one it was even though it's just a few feet away) but I try not to touch it.

I would imagine never touching or opening is key. I would also imagine that the rubber is brittle anyway.

For that reason, and many others, I never bought those editions.

I think the version I have survived better from having the box to keep the book in. Probably protects it better than just having it left out.

I never got into these. My wife wouldn't let me get the giant ape head for the Planet of the Apes movies, I'm sure she wouldn't want replicas of the Necronomicon ex Mortis lying around the house.

Both of mine are in pretty bad shape. They’ve been opened and closed a few times but nothing crazy.
