Halloween (1978) DVD Editions

Around Halloween a few years ago, I wanted to see the film "Halloween", and I had intended on buying the 2-Disc 25th Anniversary edition, but I wasn't able to find it anywhere for under $25. Circuit City had a sale on the then-newly released 2007 single-disc "restored" DVD, it was only $5. I have since found the 2 Disc 25th AE used for $8, and I quickly bought it. Should I trade in the 2007 restored version? I heard that one of the restorations is inferior to the other (I forget which), but aren't there bonus features on the restored DVD that aren't on the 2 Disc SE?

Yeah, The restored DVD has a feature titled "Halloween Unmasked" that is not on the 25th DVD. I would hang onto them both because they do have slighty different transfers, I believe the 25th DVD has a blueish tint during the night scenes and the restored version which is the same transfer from an earlier release does not have any coloring issues. I could be wrong here.

It's disputable. The old DVD was supervised by DP Dean Cundey, the one with no tint. The blue-tint one was supervised by director John Carpenter. Figuring out which one is "right" is futile.

You got it mixed up, the restored was done by the DP, and had the tint, and the 25th anni. was supervised by Carpenter, and has little to no tint

Every time I remember seeing the movie before the DVD-age the movie had the blue tint. I own the single disc version because I can't really imagine Halloween without the blue tint.

I have the restored edition (limited with lenticular cover and extended cut) and the Blu-ray.

Pretty much covers everything, except that photo gallery and on-location featurette that are on the 25th Anniversary that didn't make it to the Blu-ray.

I think the next release should be titled Halloween: The Blue-Tint Editon.
