Obviously the Basket Case trilogy

My collection is not in Alphabetical order but if it was these clumps might be second string picks

Big Bad Mama, The Big Lebowski & Big Trouble in Little China
Black Sheep, Black Snake Moan, Black Tight Killers
Bloodsucking Pharaohs in Pittsburgh, Blue Thunder Blues Brothers

Shortly after looking through the B's I lost interest in this post

Love the setup for this thread, milo.

My discs are all stored in 240-disc zippered binders with padded handles for easy grabbing off the shelf. I'd just grab one of those and be set. Probably the first one, which has the majority of my super-hero stuff in it (all the DC stuff, and then Marvel up to Fantastic Four).

However, if I had a standard shelf storage system like most of you seem to have, I'd grab
Justice League Season 1
Justice League Season 2
Justice League Unlimited Season 1

Luckily they're in basically regular-sized cases. Somebody trying to grab all 3 of the LOTR extended editions might have trouble, since the aliens are dragging you away and you might only have one hand free.

Yeah, I'm assuming they all have to fit in one hand. My other hand is holding the water gun to kill the aliens that get too close.

Well, I don't have any real order to mine other than that I keep my sci-fi and horror together, My 30's -50's together(which is the largest of what I have) and everything else together.

Let's just say i grab the first three on the shelf from the left:

if Sci-fi-Horror: it would be just three Masters of Horror titles since I don't have the whole set just ones I like: Incident on and Off a Mountain Road, Cigarette Burns and Deer Woman so sort of short changed on length there.

If 30's- 50's: Out of the Past, On The Beach, and The Day the Earth Stood Still, the last one being rather ironic and I'm sure the aliens would find amusing.

Everything else: Last Night (the canadian film about the last day of Earth's existance), Cast Away and The Illusionist

My other hand is holding a gym bag with lots of Reese's Pieces, so I can quickly stash the LOTRs in that.

Awesome thread idea. In a decade's time it's hard to find such a fresh idea. Kudos to Milo.

So if I were to take 3 totally random movies for a "desert island" type response I would have chosen Braveheart, Almost Famous and the Crow. Imagine my surprise when I glanced at my Blu-ray shelf and there staring at me is:

Almost Famous
Braveheart
The Dark Knight

Win! On the DVD side of things, the best looking combo is:

Saving Private Ryan
Jaws
Chasing Amy

The only reason I would hesitate to grab those is that they are autographed. I don't need some grubby alien tentacles all over my autographed loot.

Is that second group sitting next to each other on your shelf though? Or are they separated out like that since they're autographed?

I thought it would be a fun little game for the forum. Seemed kinda quiet in this part lately, thought I'd try to inject some non-Florida wackiness into this section.

They are separated from the rest of the collection, sure, but they are also sitting next to each other on a different shelf just like I posted.

Edit: Added a Blu-ray trio to my previous selections. They are:

The Dark Knight
The Departed
Eyes Wide Shut

The nice thing about those three is that they're all long. They'd help kill the time between probings, I think, and maybe give me some inspiration for how to combat my captors. Of course, I might get some kind of Stockholm syndrome on account of them being kind enough to supply me with a DVD/Blu-ray player and a TV on which to watch these movies.

Don't you mean "wrap my odd around your method"?

I don't think the aliens are blu-ray compatible yet.

You got me thinking. Just to play it safe I grabbed 3 discs and set them aside so they will be easy to grab when this happens :)

I went with the following Blu-ray discs:

The Shawshank Redemption
The Dark Knight
Immortal Beloved

Now before I set these aside I would have made every attempt to grab my HBO Blu-ray sets that are all together:
Band of Brothers
Rome
John Adams

Band of Brothers
From the Earth to the Moon
Planet Earth

Withouth thinking about it too long, I think I'd grab:

Grand Illusion
Seven Samurai
The Lady Vanishes

Criterion spine #'s 1-3
Drama, action, and comedy; all three are affirmations of the human spirit, and it's three of my favorite directors. Just what I need aboard the mothership.

Yours is a more rational explanation than chris_77 ever had for why films should be over 120 minutes.

Now I feel compelled to wish The Dark Knight had been R-rated....

Sounds like that should keep me going for a while.

Pssh! Good luck grabbing those with one hand. :)

My three would be:
-True Romance
-The Truman Show
-Twin Peaks: Gold Box Edition

If I could grab any three regardless of size, it would be:

Six Feet Under: The Complete Series
The West Wing: The Complete Series
The Wire: The Complete Series

If it had to be 3 that fit into one hand, it would be:

The Lord of the Rings: The Extended Editions (yes, I checked and they all fit in one hand!:))

From the Blu-ray shelf:

2001, Blade Runner, Band of Brothers.

Re: Think quick! Grab 3 DVD titles on your way to the final frontier!

I have a few combos that I think that would work, and in all honestly I have no idea what I'd choose under pressure.

Blus:
Hot Fuzz
Inglorious Basterds
Iron Man

The Prisoner: The Complete Series
Repulsion
The Searchers

Shaun of the Dead
Terminator 2
The Third Man

TV Shows:
Monty Python's Flying Circus: The Complete Series (R2)
Spaced
Star Trek: TOS (Season One)

DVDs: (Note: I am currently living at the dorms in college so, for space issues, I've condensed multiple titles in cases)
Annie Hall/ Play It Again, Sam
Back to the Future Trilogy
Batman/Batman Returns

Blade Runner/Sin City
Bottle Rocket
Brazil

Alec Guinness 5-Film Collection
A Hard Day's Night/Help!
Hellboy: The Director's Cut/ Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Re: Think quick! Grab 3 DVD titles on your way to the final frontier!

I would have to grab from my TV shows area:

-Band of Brothers
-Battlestar Galactica
-Blackadder

That would keep me occupied for 90 hours.

Couldn't find many sets of 3 that I would watch in a row.. but the best one was

Shoot em up, Shooter and Showgirls!
