Charlie Chaplin

I searched and couldn't find anything...

does anyone know why these went out of print? I'm guessing the licensing ran out? Is another company going to release them in the near future?

I pretty much have all the chaplin movies i want right now, except city lights, which i didn't get a chance to pick up before it went OOP. It kinda sucks considering i can't find another transfer of it anywhere (minus the bootlegs on ebay).

Thanks guys.

Re: Charlie Chaplin

Warner lost the rights to release the DVDs in the US. As to who is picking them up, there's speculation that Criterion is the front-runner in negotiations with the Chaplin estate to re-release the films in R1.

Regardless of who ends up with the rights, it looks like it will be a while before we see the re-releases.
