I know LE FEMME NIKITA TV show Vol 2 got yanked ASAP, and came out about a year later, something to do with music clearence. Not sure if they corrected it or not.

I also remember it was fairly close to Christmas as it was one of those gifts I picked out for my wife to give me. I know there was some discussion on the the forums back then, but it's so long ago that my google-fu isn't turning up anything specific.

I remember seeing them side by side at Tower records, and being torn between the two... I thought the pulled version had an additional feature that wasn't on the other, and vice versa, there had to be a reason other than flipper that I was torn... but I don't remember.

Same here. I didn't know it got re-issued, though.

Wasn't this one yanked or on the shelf for a very short time:

The blurb actually said "From the CREATOR of Scream," which was the source of the contention. Miramax felt the term "creator" referred to the director, Wes Craven. Sony felt the term "creator" referred to the writer, Kevin Williamson.

The court apparently subscribes to the "auteur theory" that the director's the "author," or creator, of a film, so sided with Miramax.

If Sony had used the blurb "From The Writer of Scream" from the get-go, there wouldn't have been an issue.

Also, The original DVD was recalled not because of the cover, but because it contained the original trailer, which used the "creator" blurb in it:

BTW, I'm not sure what the limit of who the term "Maker" can refer to. The recent horror movie The Thaw has the blurb "from the makers of the Evil Dead Trilogy."

However, neither the writer/director nor any of the producers had anything to do with that trilogy, as far as I can tell. IMDB can't find a link either:

Not yanked...it was available for a little while, but Rhino lost the rights to GI Joe soon after it was released and so it went out of print....they were never able to released Season 2 Part 2 and there were 15/16 episodes or so that went unreleased on DVD for years until Shout put out the complete series set this past summer....

Raimi and Tapert are the guys behind Ghost House, and The Thaw is a Ghost House Underground release. I believe all of the Ghost House releases say the same thing.

I have the recalled Bill & Ted's Most Excellent Collection box set with the sex-line "bumper sticker" on the top of the artwork.

I also have the Sleepaway Camp box set with the Red Cross logo.

I have the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" DVD with the complete trailer, but without the "Creator of Scream" line on the front cover. I have "P2" on HD-DVD, which was printed but not put out for sale after the format's death was announced- Ebay sellers seemed to have gotten all of them. I also got "Taking Lives" on HD-DVD from an Ebay seller, this also wasn't put out for sale, not sure why.

I got the Little Shop of Horrors recalled version at Borders- a couple weeks before the reissued version came out, the old disc showed up at a few of their stores.

I've got the Mystery Science Theater Set #10 with Godzilla vs. Megalon in it. Soon after release the set was recalled when, if I remember correctly, Toho alerted Rhino that they didn't have the rights to release the Godzilla film. I also bought the limited release of the single disc (The Giant Gila Monster) that Rhino used as the replacement in later releases of Set #10.

I have the DVD of Ed Wood that was recalled 2-days before release.

I have the Ed Wood that supposed to come out in like March of 04 but was recalled before release date. Found 2 copies of it at a store that was notorious for putting things out early. I never would have paid $30 for that movie alone, but when I heard it was recalled I snatched that up in a heartbeat. It supposedly has a featurette that wasn't supposed to be on there. I never opened it.

I also have that Star Trek: Generations that lists a Theatrical Trailer.

And I have the recalled Sleepaway Camp Red Cross box set. Nothing is different than what you can get now other than the Red Cross was removed from the box cover. It also has the Best Buy exclusive 4th disc.

I have the Ed Wood DVD that was recalled (like most people on here).

Funny enough, I bought it at the Virgin Megastore on the Champ Elysees when I was traveling in Paris at the time.

Both versions of the Ed Wood dvd was released with the "When Carol Met Larry (Short)"
one was released with the feature listed as a feature and accessible from the menu.
the re-release still had the feature but wasn't listed and could be found using a computer drive.
Also each version had a different color spine.

btw, both versions are available now.

I think i have the Sleepaway camp box with the extra 4th disc. Wasn't aware it was yanked from shelves. Is there a list somewhere of titles that were pulled either before release or just after?

Swamp Thing, Sleepaway Camp Box and Bill and Ted box set.

I think that's it for "recalled" or canceled discs.

I also have a copy of The History of Beavis and Butthead, but I paid about $50 for it from an Amazon seller about 3 years ago. I lucked out because it usually doesn't go for that low. It's definitely legit alright. I was sort of afraid I was ordering a bootleg and that I would have to file a claim when it arrived.

Other than that I do not really have anything worthwhile. I guess I also got the Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure boxset with the sex line number on the box as well, but I didn't know it was worth anything. I gave it to a friend. Oh well.

Have The History of Beavis and Butthead set that I got from MediaPlay on release date. Ebay was still halfway decent back then so I should have bought the other 2 copies and made some money....but didn't.

I used to have the recalled version of Spielberg's Duel, as it was cancelled like a week before the release date, but amazon had gotten a bunch of copies, and i picked up one. Ended up selling it for 60 bucks used, so not a bad investement afterall.

It was recalled once, but when it was finally issued, there was no difference or changes whatsoever.

Ed Wood, that's it for me.

Re: Does anyone own any canceled or delayed DVDs?

I just remembered I used to have Swamp Thing, watched it once and sold it on half.com. But was it ever really "recalled"? Or did they just stop printing it and re-issue a proper version? A lot of the titles mentioned here don't seem to fit the criteria in my opinion.
