"Superman Returns" the Bryan Singer Cut

Well this came out of no where. Watch the trailer, so many scenes not in the original. Would love to see this. Sign the petition if you do too.

For some reason I always thought Singer got the final cut on the movie.
This is not some fan-wanted recut?

I always thought Singer got final cut, too. Not to mention, the biggest problem with Superman Returns wasn't lack of character development, it was lack of action. I'll be onboard if there's more action, but this movie was too self-serious and overlong to warrant a more serious, longer cut.

Excellent movie - yes BETTER than The Dark Knight IMO. Give me around 30 min at least.

sorry I already bought the Superman 'ULTIMATE' Collection and am happy with the cut of this film in that set. If they wanted to do this they should have put in that collection to begin with. I guess its not so ultimate after all!!!
:(

the return to krypton sequence was the original opening of the film, from what i understand from past articles ive read and interviews the studio had him cut it from the film, but that it was suppose to be reinserted for the home video release of the film but then the movie didnt do as well as wb hoped so they dropped those plans

I like the footage that is missing when Routh exits out of the Pub to go save lois on the airplane...well when he opens up his shirt, they show him going into an alley. I thought that was very cool and felt it added more to that scene. Well that was not on the theater version or DVD nor in the 2nd disc or in that petition trailer. That sequence was only shown in some teaser trailers that can be found on youtube.

I'd buy it if they threw out all the current footage and replaced it with something else. Maybe clips from early Smallville? To go from that Lex Luthor to a retread of Gene Hackman's idiot man-clown Luthor was just so... painful.

I'd love to see this. I enjoyed the film for what it was and do think the Return from Krypton would help the epic feel of the story.

A million times this. This movie needed at least 2 more scenes as good as the airplane rescue to make it anywhere near re-watchable.

....explain that. The better than TDK cuz SR had some issues that I didn't want. Pace was a huge factor..oh and...the motherfucking kid having powers also being Supes son!

Re: "Superman Returns" the Bryan Singer Cut

I thought Singer said in hindsight he was glad he cut the Krypton opening as it slowed the pace of the movie too much.

That being said, some of those action sequences (him saving a falling person and grabbing a billboard) do look nifty.

I'm sorry but the Krypton shots, as cool as they are, can not save this film. The story, Kate Bosworth and the kid just kill it for me. To me Routh was a good Superman but its time to move on.

Ditto. Don't need more of a movie who's climax is a guy lifting a rock.

The movie needs more cutting than adding.

I'm not sure to what footage you're referring exactly, but there are, indeed, scenes of Routh leaving the pub, running down an alley, and opening his shirt in the theatrical cut on the DVD.

If the DC is significantly shorter than the theatrical, then they might have something. The first movie I ever showed my 10-year-old boy that he walked out in the middle of it and asked me to call him when it got good.

Re: "Superman Returns" the Bryan Singer Cut

I really wish they'd just greenlight a Singer-directed sequel. Ultimately, I think a well-executed (non-Luthor) sequel improves Superman Returns more than adding a Krypton-sequence into the existing movie. Although I liked SR and I'd definitely buy any recut offered.

Having watched this after purchasing the Ultimate Collection the question that ran through my mind was why was this film made? Most of the Smallville episodes made up to that point were more action packed and more interesting.

Really?

Re: "Superman Returns" the Bryan Singer Cut

They could have done anything; instead, they completely blew it. I honestly still can't believe that, for their big "bringin' Superman back big time!" movie event, they went back to "Luthor is a crazy land developer" as the conflict. It's embarrassing, it's stupid, and dear god it's been done already. I agree with SanityRemoved: why did they make this movie the way they did? There was no reason to shoe horn it into continuity with (some of) the earlier movies--they could have gone BIG, with true spectacle with the budget they had...instead they went back to the well and pulled up some dirty water nobody wanted to drink.
