Loose discs
Having recently visited the USS Alabama Battleship in Mobile Bay (Alabama) I decided to buy the DVD Under Siege(since many scenes were shot on the ship.)
A nearby Walmart had three copies in stock but each one seemed to have a loose disc inside. I asked an associate about what happens if I purchase one and take my chances that it isn't scatched from moving around inside the case. Their customer service policy for defective discs is exchanges for same title only!
Since there were only a few copies in stock, and each had loose discs inside, what choice would I have?
I just got home and haven't had a chance yet to check the DVD out but it does appear to have a few marks on the surface.

Re: Loose discs
just watch the movie and see what happens. loose discs are hardly the death sentence they sound like rattling in the box...
if you have to return it and there isn't another in stock i don't think they would have a problem refunding, what $5.00, that you paid for it?

Re: Loose discs
UGHHHHHH! This has happened to me before. I was visiting my girlfriend (now wife) up at Penn State (4hrs away from me). We stopped into a Walmart and I saw a copy of "1941" in their dump bin. So i picked it up and everything seamed ok until I got home from my trip and opened the DVD. It seams the DVD was loose and scratched badly, but it was jammed in the case in such a way that it didn't rattle or anything. So I took it back to 3 local Walmart and none had "1941" in stock. The following weekend my girlfriend came to visit me and I asked her if she would take the disc back to the store I bough it from. They were out as well. So I ended up talking to a manager and complaining like an insane person because by this time their policy was driving me insane. She told me there was nothing that could be done. And I would have to keep driving to Walmarts and trying to exchange it (then just to be smart I asked if Walmart would refund me for the gas it would take to do so). So in turn Walmart sold me a defective item and offered to exchange it for a new one. Ok fare enough, but they had none in stock. So they outright refused to refund me for the defective item they sold me. I understand why they have such a strict policy on DVDs/CDs due to burning. But still... They sold me a defective item. I want my money back if they cannot supply me with a replacement. I wasn't too mad because it was only $5.00 they screwed me out of but it was the principle of the entire thing that got me truly angry. So I went back that night and burnt the place to the ground. Hahaha. Just kidding about that part.

Re: Loose discs
I'm the same way. I've seen titles for a little as $1 at pawn shops and flea markets but when I open them up to check the condition, some look like sand paper. I have more respect for my electonic equipment that to even try playing one.

Re: Loose discs
I once got a dvd from the $5 bin and when I open it up it was not loose but it was scratched pretty good so I took it back and got the same title and they opened it up right there and it was the same way so they just told me to grab another dvd. If it was one I really wanted to see I probably would have just kept it if it still played.
