Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread
Rifftrax is having an OK sale, and a kind of lame one.
You can get the live version and the three riffer studio version of Reefer Madness for only $4.20 each today. I think it's normally like $12. I have it on DVD, but I may buy it to have in my streaming library.
Less good sale: the code 420 gets you 4.2% off anything else. Sadly, you can't add that small discount to Reefer Madness.

For the most part, so far I've been all in with physical media as far as Rifftrax video releases go. (Except for Kickstarter rewards and when Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny was first released.) Storage space is at a premium now, though. I'd be more inclined to go digital only if the rumored Roku app ever comes to be.
And I'm pissed at myself for putting off donating to this most recent Kickstarter, what with all of the stretch goal rewards they added. I didn't check up on what was going on until I read this thread the day after it ended.

Weird, the three-riffer version is showing up as $4.20 for me:

Tomorrow the backer presale starts for tickets to see the reunion show in person. I'm not missing that, but I think I'll be in a doctor's appointment with my kid right when they go on sale. But I'm planning to get the cheapest tickets, so it's not like I'm fighting to land prime seats.

EDIT: Yep, once I logged into my account it showed up as $4.20. Odd.
And I'm so jealous. I'd love to be there for the reunion.

Plus, the first 1,000 orders from ShoutFactory.com will receive an exclusive bonus disc:
The MST3K Annual Summer Blockbuster Review was only legitimately annual for one year, since only two were ever produced. But the summers of 1997 and 1998 proved that in space lawyers can't hear you riff, because some of the titles skewered by our nutty Davids were genuine Goliaths.
These two vintage half-hour TV specials, on DVD for the first time, see Mike, the bots and even the Mads and their friends take on trailers and behind the scenes footage from such investments as Deep Impact, Armageddon and Ever After. Even Steven, blessed be his name, is not left alone. It's all in good fun, though, and while many may take issue with the selection, no one will deny that the gang from Eden Prairie's real target is Hollywood. Enjoy this time capsule from an era when mammoth budgets were not exclusive to superhero movies.*
*Batman and Robin excepted

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread
I finished my backlog of Rifftrax VODs (there are still more I don't own, but I've now watched all the ones I own). Now I need to get the rest of my MST3K discs watched.
Unemployment definitely makes getting caught up easier.

Has the MST3K Little Gold Statue Preview Special from 1995 ever been released on a set as a bonus feature?
http://mst3k.wikia.com/wiki/MST3K_Li...review_Special
They reviewed trailers of some of the Oscar nominees, but didn't have time for The Shawshank Redemption, so at the very end Tom Servo rushes through a one line summary and says it's "about a Shawshank that gets redeemed." That killed me and I *always* think of that line whenever I watch the movie. (Which has been a ton, thanks to endless cable airings.)

It's never been released before. Given the high profile movies covered, I certainly didn't expect it to be.

I think the reason they were able to do these is because they used the EPKs "Electronic Press Kits" that studios release for films that let channels re-edit or use the footage as they see fit for new stories, reviews, etc.
BTW, there was a second Oscar preview, so it's possible the two Oscar specials will be bundled together for a future bonus disc.

The "release likelyhood" list seems to think that re-releases of all the Rhino volumes are either "likely" or "extremely likely," with the exception of a vol 10 re-release, likely replaced with a 10.5 re-release:

Reminder that the live MST3K reunion show is tonight. It's in select theaters 8pm Eastern / 7pm Central (tape-delayed to 8pm Pacific / 7pm Mountain).

A replay will be on July 12, and there's an eventual DVD/Blu-ray release on the way.
I got a free $13 Fandango credit from the T-Mobile Tuesdays app today, so I bought a ticket using that credit.

Glad to hear about a DVD release, I hear about these live events all the time but they're just not something we can get to.

You can get a pretty sweet deal on Rifftrax at the moment. Combine the codes BOTS and MADS for 15% off (one is 5%, one is 10%, I forget which). You can stack those with the code PATRIOT for another 15% off.

Thanks for the tip. I was going to pick up the Game of Thrones riff with the PATRIOT code, but will probably get a few other things as well while I'm at it.

For the 10th anniversary of Rifftrax, they're giving 20% through the 21st with the code RIFFTEN. The code SWAYZE will also get you the solo Mike riff of Roadhouse for free.
Also, if you spend $50, you get a $10 gift card.

I picked up the Raiders of the Lost Ark riff. Now, to keep my eyes out at Goodwill for a copy of Road House.
BTW I used the app for the first time ever over the weekend when I watched Jaws. Worked pretty well except for the audio breaking up a little here and there. It's nice not having to fuss with syncing, though you do miss some jokes that occur before any dialogue starts. I assume they'll add compatibility with more/all of their riffs in the future. Not all of the ones I've bought work with it. You'd think post-app release ones would like Game of Thrones, but that one doesn't.

I also posted this in TV, but more people seem to check this thread. The revival is coming to Netflix.

A reason to keep Netflix. It felt like all the good stuff had moved over to Hulu and we were wondering if it was worth keeping Netflix but this is a damn good reason.

This is one of those situations where I hope this is "released/made available" on a weekly basis, just to make it last longer.
