Nothing wrong with that. Prom Night is a very decent example of '80s slasher. Predictable, derivative, a little slow, yes, but atmospheric (the phone calls in silhouette) and lots of fun, and there's that great chase scene through the darkened school.
Btw, point me in the direction of that $3.99 price for The Burning. I've been looking to get my paws on some more '80s Slasher, but I'm not willing to pay $10 and up.

Motel Hell
I really enjoy, but I maintain no illusions that it's a good movie.

Re: Worst movie in your collection?

Here are a few movies in my collection that are considered "bad":

Big Daddy
Bride of the Monster*
Glen or Glenda*
Howard the Duck
Plan 9 From Outer Space*

The worst movie in my collection IMO is Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. I do not know what I was thinking when I bought this one. I have not watched it since I got it. There are only a few funny moments, I'll admit, but that is about it.

A bargain bin coupled with morbid curiousity has left me in possesion of a copy of 'From Justin To Kelly'.

Re: Worst movie in your collection?

I have yet to see it but Cruel Intentions 3 can't be good. It was part of a Cruel Intentions trilogy pack I picked up. Dickie Roberts and Undercover Brother have to be fairly high up there on the crap scale also.

Re: Worst movie in your collection?

I've got both of the AVP movies (in their special editions, no less, so that I have all of the special editions of all of the Alien and Predator movies). They aren't *horrible*, but they certainly aren't great either. You can't even see what is happening on the screen! Blech.
I've also got both Feast sequels (Sloppy Seconds & The Happy Finish) because I enjoyed the first Feast movie, but I absolutely loathe the sequels. I'm all for horror movies (over half my collection is made of them) but those Feast movies went beyond gross and disturbing. I shudder even just thinking about them.

Re: Worst movie in your collection?

probably Action Jackson

i own Ultraviolet and it's pretty bad too. but it came with the Fifth Element

hell, i own many movies that are not of high critical opinion. Predator 2. Robocop 2. The Last Starfighter. Krull. Conan the Destroyer.

all the Rambo movies. all the Rocky movies. heaps of Asian martial arts and heroic bloodshed movies. Sonny Chiba. Chow Yun Fat. the entire Shogun Assassin series. Shaw brothers kung fu. John Woo. Tsui Hark.

we could argue at length about the merits of these films or their lack thereof. but i am glad to own and enjoy them. even proud of the fact.

and they're stored right alongside the Godfather, Rashomon, Raging Bull, Once Upon a Time in the West, the Unforgiven... you know, the smart stuff

awesome. all that shit is cool by me.
if i could find Chow Yun Fat's God of Gamblers series for a good price, i'd own it. heck, i'd buy Stephen Chow's parody of God of Gamblers if i saw it sitting on a rack. in my opinion they're still a damn sight better made and more entertaining than Michael Bay explosions.

everything in the collection doesn't have to be Taxi Driver, right?

The last twenty minutes is awesome (of which that Youtube scene is only a small part), but to get there one has to wade through more than an hour of winking pratfalls, stupid comedy, and mugging for the camera in the worst HK tradition. It's like two different movies fused together.

The one in my collection that i would get rid of in a heartbeat is "JUNIOR" the Arnie pregnant flick, i fricking hate that movie but it came in my Arnie 3 dvd set on side b of "TWINS", the set also includes "Kindergarten Cop" in widescreen the main reason i bought the set.

I find it hard to believe that that came from an action comedy. Seems like that clip had a serious HK action tone. Wow.

The works of Ed Wood cannot be considered "bad". They are unique gems in the history of low-budget independent cinema. Some might call them "bad" when compared side-by-side to other films, but Wood's works are treasures. There have been thousands of bad film makers in Hollywood, to be sure, but how many of their films are still watched and beloved fifty years after they are made? Not many, if any at all.

I have these films in my library too and I love each of them dearly.

It's a lame buddy comedy with a hint of action until it becomes a kick-ass HK flick for the finale. If you buy the DVD (which I don't recommend), start at chapter 14 and you'll see some shit that would make Woo envious.

don't be talking about Momma like that... the sequel was worse, but I enjoyed the first movie.

but the diamond edition truly looks like a "grindhouse" print - it looks like it fell through a paper shredder. Their edition of 'House by the Cemetary' also looks like crap.

Re: Worst movie in your collection?

Without doubt, mine is the disgustingly creepy title "In A Glass Cage". I picked this up thinking is was a foreign horror film and got (from my perspective) much more than I bargained for.

(Our pet Yorkie apparently agrees with my review, as he seized an opportunity to crap on the DVD case when I left it out on the floor.)
