upcoming titles for Disney's 'Diamond Collection'
From Video Business:
Disney sets more than a dozen Diamonds
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is expanding its high-end Blu-ray Disc line, the ‘Diamond Collection,’ to feature more than a dozen of the studio’s animated classics, including The Lion King, Bambi, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan.
This brand is considered an upgrade over Disney’s long-running Platinum collection, which featured lavish standard-definition releases of animated favorites.
Other titles headed to Blu-ray for the first time in the series are Lady and the Tramp, The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians and Pinocchio.
Disney is set to street two Diamond titles each year, with Fantasia and Beauty and the Beast already slotted for 2010 bows. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs kicks off the line on Oct. 6. Each title will be packed with fresh bonus features and will be available for a limited time at retail.
One extras highlight for Snow White is ‘Magic Mirror,’ which the studio touts as its first use of artificial intelligence in a film. The Blu-ray-exclusive technology recognizes viewing patterns and suggests where viewers should go next in the film for an overall personal experience.
There also is the Web-enabled game ‘Mirror, Mirror on the Wall,’ which involves princess characters calling players by phone.
A ‘Backstage Disney’ featurette, which explores the film’s 1937 production home Hyperion Studios, and the game ‘Jewel Jumble’ also are included.
Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, announced the new Blu-ray titles at the kickoff to the company’s first fan convention, D23, running Sept. 10-13 in Anaheim, Calif.
“Walt Disney’s gift of telling captivating and engaging stories was matched only by his passion for presenting them in the most spectacular way,” said Cook. “We are proud to continue his pursuit of excellence with ‘The Diamond Collection,’ which brings the films that are the foundation of our company to audiences of all ages across the globe.”
Bob Chapek, president of Disney’s DVD division, added, “We believe that the collection offers consumers the opportunity to enjoy these timeless classics like never before and underlines Disney’s commitment to continue to bring the best quality product and immersive experiences into the home.”

Wrong forum OP....believe me, posting about Blu-ray here will bring you nothing but scorn....I'm guessing that's why no one has made a thread yet for the recently announced "Four Christmases" since the DVD is barebones and all the extras are on the Blu version....
