Physical Media Getting Less Floor Space
I went to the local Future Shop (a sister of Best Buy in Western Canada) and noticed the high traffic space right in front of the entrance which was dedicated to DVD/Blu-ray has now been replaced with cell phone & cell phone plan sales.
The physical media section has been pushed towards center/back of the store and has been reduced in square footage.
Many of the (over-priced) DVD catalogue titles have been removed in favor of Blu-ray or cheap, high volume DVD titles.
Anyone else seeing this similar trend in their city?

Not this particular trend, but among bigger retailers in my area (BB especially) I have seen their DVD stock drop and drop over the last handful of months.
I thought maybe it was just the smaller BB store (the "foothole" stores) that were shrinking their DVD stock, but I noticed bigger BB stores in my area shrinking down their DVD stock as well, though not as much as the smaller stores.

Re: Physical Media Getting Less Floor Space
Since a couple of years ago, stores like Best Buy, Borders, Target and Wal-Mart have focused on new releases and bargain titles and all but done with having catalogue titles on hand. FYE stores still have some degree of catalogue titles, but they are so overpriced that they hardly move too much inventory.

I havent noticed this at all. The only difference i have seen is the overpriced blueray sections gaining some size, very very slowly.

I have seen this to a certain extent. If the older item is available in store, 9 times out of 10 the price is going to be higher than the normal markup on online pricing.
