Miss March not being rented at Blockbuster stores
I went into my local Blockbuster this morning to rent Miss March, but apparently they are not carrying it! The lady at the counter checked all the other stores in the city, and none of them are renting it (only a few of them have it only to buy)....
Does this mean the writing is on the wall for the company? If they are not even going to be carrying a new release title by a major studio that is advertised in the weekly Best Buy and Target ads, this has to raise a red flag as to the financial health of their stores....even thought this film was not any kind of major hit, it is not like it was some tiny release by some indie film production company, or an obscure catalog release!
It should be noted that Miss March is being rented by Blockbuster Online (which looks like where I will try and get it from instead)....

I don't even know what this is. Is this the "hilarious" comedy where Anna Faris plays the Playboy bunny gets kicked out in the mansion and has to live in the real world?

Frankly I'm not sure why you'd want to rent it. But it's certainly odd that Blockbuster wouldn't carry a major release. I wonder if it's that way everywhere or if your town is just an odd case.

Re: Miss March not being rented at Blockbuster stores
I work at a Blockbuster and I think it's either 1 of 2 things:
1. I checked last week to see if we were getting Miss March because I wanted to rent it and we had some on order but hadn't received them yet. Some studios have been really crappy about getting stuff to us on time. It's possible the employee at the store was stupid and didn't know how to check if they had any on order. That being said I then noticed that this was a Fox title it got me thinking that it could be something else...
2. Fox started producing "rental" copies of their films a few months ago. These copies only contain the film and no special features and these are the versions we carry for rent. Perhaps because Miss March was such a disaster at the box office they elected to not produce these rental only titles and wouldn't let blockbuster carry the regular "for sale" copies for rent.
This is all just speculation of course, but when I go into work again I'll look into it and let you know what I find out.

I thought "Miss March" was a sequel to "Little Women."

Re: Miss March not being rented at Blockbuster stores
All the Blockbuster stores around me have closed up shop. No big loss. I haven't rented a movie at Blockbuster in years. Netflix and Redbox took a huge chunk out of their business.

All the blockbusters around me have gone away too. Guess the writing is on the wall for all non-vending machine in person rentals...

It's probably because Blockbuster has atrophy.

Good. I hope this company does go out of business. That company has no clue what the hell they are doing anyways.
I got it from RedBox, it was okay.

The Blockbuster near me didn't have Dragonball or Green Lantern either! Two more major releases missing. That's surprising and can't be a good sign.

Re: Miss March not being rented at Blockbuster stores
The Blockbuster I used to work at just (they're a franchise) said that they're not even getting movies from their distributor. So that means that they're having to special order about 3 movies of each as they come out, and sometimes they don't even get some of the bigger titles.

If Blockbuster does go out of business, its distributors will probably have to write off whatever hasn't been paid for.

I can't speak for Dragonball (wasn't looking for it), but my store DID have Green Lantern....it was under the kids section on the new release wall, did you look there?
