Do you keep track of what you watch?
I've been doing it since about 2001(DVDs and laserdiscs). I do it so I can see where I left off on a certain tv series or its interesting too see how long its been since last viewing a certain movie.

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Yep. Or keep track of what I haven't watched but I guess that's the same thing.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Yup. In my spreadsheet of dvds on Google Docs, I have a column for date watched. That's one of the things I miss most about DVD Spot...it was so freaking easy to keep track of these things. Now, it's kind of a pain in the ass.

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Just in my head.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I have DVD profiler, so it's very easy to do so. Can even sort by last watched.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
just here on DVDTalk. in my sig 2009 Film List, weekly diary.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Yes, I've been keeping an excel spreadsheet since Jan 2002.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Yep, in a spreadsheet generated by DVD Profiler.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I keep track of what I watch now on Microsoft Word, and I just do it by the weeks like on here :)
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Yes, in an Access database. It only goes back about 2 years though.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
My stuff is arranged on my shelves by what I've actually watched- the stuff that I've watched completely goes first, then the stuff I've watched but haven't 'finished' (it's too late at night to explain what I mean by that and you'd think I was nuts if I told you- if you really wanna know look up a post I made on the subject a few years ago and then marvel at all the "WTF?" responses) and after that is stuff that hasn't been played at all.
After I consider a disc "finished", I don't keep track of when it gets played after that- could be never, or could be every day. Not surprisingly the music discs get the most replay, though I usually skip to my favorite songs. |

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Used to track it in DVDSpot, plan to track it whenever I get around to converting that to a GoogleDoc.
I also try to vote on films I've seen in IMDB, so that sometimes helps me remember that I've already watched it. |
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I don't track the specific date I watch anything, but I do know which of my specific DVDs I haven't watched yet (regardless of whether or not I've seen it before -- such as renting it from Netflix).

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Not really. Except for the Annual Horror Challenge.
Which is fantastic. |

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
No, but I really should. I'll go weeks between episodes on TV shows. Case in point:last night I went to watch Smallville and it had been well over a month since I last watched an ep, so I had to figure out where to pick back up at.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I have a list of DVDs that I recently purchased, so I know which ones I want to watch, to make sure that they're not defective. I don't buy a lot of DVDs, so it's usually pretty manageable.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
it's all in my head. I have a good memory for that.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Nope.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I usually just add as I go on the forum here under the rank em thread. The spending tab can get a little scary though!

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I use DVD Profiler "Last Watched" feature. The problem with that is when you watch a disc again, it removes the last instance of when it was watched from the list. So I use the notes feature to also add a date I watched a disc. I post reviews of each disc I've watched, so those without reviews can also be flagged as not-watched.

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Not really. but everythign gets watche dbefore it gets filed in teh colelction. So if it is sitting on my sehfl somewhere, I have watched it. If it is in the pile on the floor, I havent watched it yet.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I do it the old-fashioned way. I keep a journal in a composition notebook. With a Bic pen. I put down the date and then what I watched on that date, with as much info as I feel like including. Sometimes with comments, sometimes not.

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
For TV sets, I have a post-it inside indicating what's the next episode to be watched.

But I write a lot of reviews/essays on movies as well for school. So my school folder on my computer guess is a good place to look to see if I've seen something in the last 5 years, haha. |

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I've been keeping track of my theatrical and DVD viewings with Excel since September of 2004 (the first entry being "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow".) I list the title, the director, and the date watched. I'm kind of obsessive about keeping it up to date.
I've thought of writing mini-reviews (or full reviews) of all the titles I watch and putting them on a blog or something, but I can never gather the motivation to actually do it. Besides the fact that the few reviews I have tried to write really aren't very good. |
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I keep track of all my viewing on DVD Profiler. It's the best thing since DvdSpot that I have found.

I also like to sort my collection with the movies I haven't watched first, or just show the discs I have not watched, then either decide on a genre I want to watch and sort it again, or just run through them and pick out a few. |
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
It's interesting that I don't considering I'm fairly OCD about updating my purchases in Excel and DVDAF on a strict basis.
I maintain a blog to journal my overall film experiences (purchases/reviews/etc.) but I don't do so as frequently as I'd like. That's simply attributable to the fact that my reviews suck and take up too much time to do. I don't generally analyze films down to every detail - if they work, great, if they don't, they are forgotten about. Simple. So I plan on restructuring my blog down to its most basic level - keeping it as a journal instead of a review site. Thus, keep a quick mini review of sorts, maybe some highlights and my overall rating of the film. Keeping it short and tight will allow me to track what I watch more frequently - I think. At least that is the intention. |

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Yes, date and film for the last six years.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I use DVDpedia to keep track of my discs, and it has a "last viewed" option that I've been using since I got the program about a year ago.

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
Yeah! Since November 1993 I can tell you every movie I've seen - where (theater, on VHS at home, DVD at Home) and with whom. So, if you ask me how many times I have seen a particular movie I can open up this MS-Word file and tell you not only how many times I've seen it, but also where, when and with whom!!

Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I tried a few times to start tracking what I watch with DVD Profiler, but I'm too damn lazy to keep it up :(
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I used to use DVDSpot, but now I keep track of watched discs on an Excel spreadsheet.
|
Re: Do you keep track of what you watch?
I do it the old-fashioned way as well. I have a journal/book in which I list the day and the movies watched. I've only been doing this for the past 2 years, but I enjoy looking back and seeing my movie watching patterns or what I watched two years ago today. I should start writing notes (because sometimes I watch so many movies, that I can't remember much about a certain one or two, months later-especially ones that weren't entirely interesting). But, for now, I just keep it simple with just the title and date.
