Re: MST3K Volume XVI Details

This is the problem with King Dinosaur and the other Lippert Films, direct from Jordan Fields of Shout! Factory:

Q: The Lippert movies from Season 2 - Rocketship XM, Jungle Goddess, Lost Continent and King Dinosaur - what is the holdup on these ?

A: The problem is that Kit Parker has U.S. rights to those films, but Warner Bros. has Canadian rights. We need both U.S. and Canadian rights, because our boxes sell well in Canada, so that means getting Canadian rights out of Warner Bros. And that, I imagine, would fall pretty low on their priority list.

[QUOTE=Tim Tucker;9598810]:

The Lippert movies from Season 2 - Rocketship XM, Jungle Goddess, Lost Continent and King Dinosaur

That would make a fantastic box right there - all four are near perfect episodes! I hope the rights issues get squared away soon.

Another definite purchase for me. I have every MST3K collection, and each one is worth every penny.

Does that mean they haven't even inquired about getting the rights? They're just assuming?

Re: MST3K Volume XVI Details

This will likely be the only other MST related release of the year. Satellite News is reporting that Cinematic Titanic are taking a break for the summer and have no plans to release any of the films they have been touring with in the near future. Sad news for those of us who caught them on tour, I was really looking forward to more DVD's.

I'm pretty sure there'll be more Rifftrax releases this year.

Dynamite Brothers was awesome live. I was really hoping to see those get a DVD release. Hope this isn't the end of the Cinematic Titanic experiment. I really enjoyed it. We still have a steady stream of Rifftrax at least.

I sincerely hope so. Probably a shorts collection if anything. I'd love to see a Planet of the Dinosaurs disc if they can work something out with Retromedia.

This arrived today. After enduring Warrior of the Lost World, I can say with full confidence that "The Guy from Paper Chase" turned in one of the most indifferent lead performances I've ever seen.

In the David Worth(less?) interview included, he gives out his email and actually encourages MST fans to contact him. He has a sense of humor about the whole thing, and even manages to squeeze in a jab at Renny Harlin.

Re: MST3K Volume XVI Details

Although this was one of my favorite shows growing up, I was never able to afford the sets since they were so expensive. Now that I can, I'm looking around and it looks like the only OOP sets are Vols. 7, 8, 9, and 10. Is that correct?

Also, does the Limited Edition set released last October come in the style of this set - the regular retail release just put inside a box with a Crow T. Robot trinket? Just wanna make sure I got that all figure'd out.

Yes you a correct on the out of print ones...also The Hellcats and The Beginning Of The End (single releases) are also OOP with the special edition version of the 20th anniversary set.

No the Limited Edition set came in a steel tin with crow and the discs inside.

He jabs a few people....but he is not sugar coating anything, which is actually refreshing. And it is totally awesome that he wants fans to contact him...can't remember the last time that happened.

I'm fairly certain that Rocketship X-M is actually a Public Domain title, so there should be no hold-up as far as rights issues.

(Heck, you can even download the non-MST version of the movie for free from Public Domain websites.)

Re: MST3K Volume XVI Details

Is there a cheaper version without the Tom Servo action figure? If there is, I haven't found it.
