How do you keep track of your DVD/Blueray collection?

Re: How do you keep track of your DVD/Blueray collection?
I've tattooed every title onto my body. The problem is I ran out of room long ago and kept buying dvds. I had to hire a prostitute to have children for me, so I can tattoo my new titles on them. I just finished tattooing Norbit on my 2-year-old's forehead. I'll post pics after it heals.

Hi
Well original poster again. I didn't say I wasn't going to buy an iphone, I just don't own one yet if that's the only option. I used to have a PDA that died, a Zire 31, it was pretty handy with the database on the PC and the Zire.
How many DVD's I own, you all wonder? slightly over a 1000. Is it a lot? For my friends yes but here no, I know you all have 15000.
Do I forget which ones I own? Yes for about 3% of my collection (Anybody needs Saw IV? I just got a second copy, I was really missing saw III. LOL!)
I rent movies first and then I buy what I liked when I see a good deal, so without a list I tend to be confused sometimes when buying used DVD's.
All right let's stop the bad memory judgment and get back to topic.
Beside getting an Iphone, is there another cheaper portable alternative that can be hotsynced with a PC?
I don't need all the bells and whistles just my DVD list with me at all times.
Thanks again
Patrick

Which PDA phone do you have? I am with ATT and would love to get myself a free or cheap phone(That is not an Iphone) that can handle a database which can be hotsynced on the PC too.
I must have bought only 3 duplicates, it's not that bad but it annoys the hell out of me when I do so.
So anybody interested by saw IV widescreen?

Thanks
Patrick

It's all in my head. Maybe my collection isn't quite that large (somewhere between 500 and 1,000 pieces), but if you were to ask me if I have it, I could tell you.

try out dvd profiler's mobile version. I've never used it, so maybe someone here can also recommend it.
But I think the mobile program you use really depends on what you are using it on.
If it's an Iphone, you'd probably have more choices.

Profiler does have a portable version. As far as i know you dont need an IJunk to run it. Should run on any smartphone.
What you can also do with profiler is upload your collection to their website. Then look at it from any computer, or phone, that has the internet.

This is the kind of answers I have been looking for. I will research that option further.
Thanks so much

I too have been using DVDPedia for awhile now. Works great. And there is an iPhone app for it called PocketPedia that syncs wirelessly so you can always have your collection on hand if necessary (if you got the iPhone route). Prior to DVDPedia though I used DVDAF...

I assume he means "how can I check my current inventory when I'm out shopping?"
If you don't want to use your brain or and ipod/iphone/other portable device to either run a local program or check your inventory online, I think you're limited to either paper and pen or printout, or calling home and asking, "Hey do I have this?"
My collection is small enough that if I encounter something in the store I almost always know if I already have it. Plus I don't normally just browse-and-buy in a store.
I use dvdprofiler for local/online, and my iphone to check remotely if I absolutely have to. I know you said you're not going to get one, but damn if it isn't very handy.

Just a thought. You really don't have to say; "hi, original poster here". we can figure that out ourselves. If someone can't, they're too stupid to converse with anyway.
I would keep an excel printout with me if you are habving that much trouble remembering what you have and what you need.
