Death Wish dvd ?
I was in Walmart today and saw Death Wish in the $5 bin. The artwork looks different from the copies I've seen for sale on Amazon and elsewhere. Does anyone know if this is a new edition or just a re-release with new artwork?
This new artwork was b&w w/a close-up of Bronson resting his head on his gun.
Thanks

Thanks. I think I'll go ahead and pick it up regardless. I don't own the film yet and I really like that cover art...not to mention it's only $5.

Paramount has changed the majority of their catalog artwork to no longer include the "WIDESCREEN COLLECTION" banner they used to slap on every title, but the discs are unchanged. In fact, every once in awhile you'll get a new cover with an old pressing in it (i.e. one with artwork on the disc instead of silver finish).

I just wish they'd release (or re-release) some of his hard-to-find or OOP stuff such as White Buffalo, Red Sun, & Death Hunt.
Also, where's the widescreen release of Hard Times?

^I can definitely understand your affinity for the original cover/poster art. I would probably feel the same way if my memory of the film itself wasn't so hazy. I get these films and the Dirty Harry films confused. I watched them when I was very young with my father, so they've sort of merged into one. I recently bought Dirty Harry and will now pick up Death Wish, and I can't wait to revisit them after all this time.

The cover is nice, but I still prefer the art on the original release (Bronson standing on the steps looking back with gun pointed). Having seen the film in theaters during its initial run, there's something about the grainy photo with the glare of the streetlamps & the red hue and the kind of fearful look on his face that just evokes the entire mood of the film for me. Also,, it looks more like something from the one-sheet poster (I think we have a copy of that), and I'm a sucker for DVD covers that use the poster art (assuming that the poster was a good one).
