Re: Watchmen: Director's Cut --> July 21st!
I just watched the DC and I have a quick question.
I noticed something weird right after they spring Rorshach from jail. In the very next shot, which is the Owl ship entering the underground lair, the first 2 or 3 seconds seem to be in slow motion, then as its landing it goes back to normal speed.
Is it supposed to be like that or do I have a defective copy? I've never seen this "glitch" before. It doesn't freeze up or skip. It just slows down for like 2 seconds.

You don't have a defective copy ( unless mine is also defective... )
This seems to be just a part of the DC transfer. What's irritating is that I don't think this occurred in the theatrical release OR in the on-demand video rental version of the theatrical release. I haven't seen the DVD of the theatrical cut so I can't say if it occurred there.
Another issue regarding the DC: is it just me, or does the "sex" scene with Jon and Laurie ( right before she leaves him ) look completely atrocious in this version?

Thanks for that confirmation. Admittedly it's a recent release, but I couldn't find anyone else commenting on the "purple" scene. As with the owl ship slowdown thing, the scene looked fine in the theater and in the streaming video of the theatrical cut, so far as I can recall.

A completely unrelated question:
Does anyone know the name of the piece of classical music that plays as Dan and Laurie are leaving Karnak? Someone said it was Mozart, but I didn't see any Mozart in the credits.

Re: Watchmen: Director's Cut --> July 21st!
My copy from Amazon came with the lenticular slipcover.... I usually just throw slip covers away because its just extra work to get to the disc, but I agree with others that this one really looks cool.... so in this case, I'm making an exception and keeping the slip cover.
Also, I thought the additional footage in the DC really helped make the storyline stronger.... for me, the DC was a much more satisfying presentation than the theatrical cut.

Ugh oh...I dont know if I would be too vocal about throwing away slip covers.
Around here that could be akin to saying you dont like Pixar movies.

I think I'm actually a bit crazy about keeping my packaging. I keep all my slipcovers. If there's a sticker placed on the slipcover by the studio, I keep it on. If there's one on the outer plastic, I cut the plastic off around it and keep it in the case (especially if it mentions a store exclusive).

riot, too bad you trashed yours. I would've paid for an English-Only slipcover if possible; my Canadian bilingual one is disappointing.
