The commentary track, the "Crossing The Frontier" featurette, the theatrical and teaser trailers, and the image gallery are all included on the original anamorphic release. Looks like "Heroes of the Screen" featurette may be the only thing new - hardly worth a double dip.

It's a B movie and I think they did everything that was going to be done with it. The HDDVD is miles above the SD, so I bet they port it over. Maybe the sound will get a kick up?

Would've been nice to have had some kind of "Remembering Robert Preston" feature or something like that.
And while I'm well aware this is a coming of age story, is that cover particularly phallic to anybody else?

May the luck of the Seven Pillars of Gulu be with you at all times!
Might be enough to finally make me break down and buy a blu-ray player.
That is, if Xur and the Ko-dan armada don't send a Zando-Zan to kill me first.
Of course, that's what Beta is for.
Back to sleep, Louis, or I'm telling Mom about your Playboys!

You know, this is a decent flick-- has an indelible '80s stamp-- but I think the soundtrack outshines the movie. Especially the main title theme. Heroic, epic, triumphant. Great stuff.
Why do they always have to create new cover art for these re-releases? Why not use the original poster with a nice border? Simple and elegant. New artwork is almost always very average Photoshop work (my apologies to those who put them together).
--THX

I may pick this up, if it is cheap enough first week. Never got the original disc, and I loved the movie as a youngster.

I haven't even gotten around to watching the disc I bought during the last DD 20% off sale (or was it two sales ago?). I think I can easily pass.
