Mimic: Director's Cut and Cronos: Criterion coming later this year
I just read on twitchfilm that both Guillermo Del Toro early horror flicks will be getting new and improved SE disc and Cronos will be a CRITERION! No I Dont Believe This Is An April Fools Joke

Cronos CC was noted yesterday (not April 1st) in the new Criterion Newsletter thread, the scarab was the illustrated "hint" for an upcoming title.

you guys can all thank me for MIMIC...i broke down and bought the UK version a month or two ago. although "12th anniversary" sounds a bit fishy to me.

I even admit the Mimc one is fishy but with CC relaesing Cronos I could see Dimension doing it but the whole off year anniversary seems to comedic

The Mimic Director's Cut is a fake. The number listed on the spine (seen in a bigger version of the pic on Bloody-Disgusting) is 040109 (April 1st, 2009)

Not to be a sour puss, but I don't think that is funny. I have been waiting for an anamorphic release of "Mimic" for years...then to see a 'Director's Cut' and I was elated...again, just not funny.

Lame that Mimic is a fake. I've never seen it, but I'm a big fan of del Toro so I would definitely buy it. I am, however, all over the Cronos: CC.

I wonder if it'd be possible to have both cuts on the disc because, even though Del Toro's not a fan of the theatrical release, I thought it was an amazing experience.

I already have the crappy version of Mimic that was released, so a new proper release would be welcomed. That that is a joke doesn't really bother me.
However, I am delighted that Cronos will be getting the Criterion treatment. I don't have the DVD and am not looking to spend $40+ on it from eBay or Amazon. Cannot wait for the new release of that movie.

I was saying part of the reason I held off on buying it from Amazon or eBay is because it is a little too high for a standard release. I don't mind paying the equivalent for a Criterion release though, because you get a lot more for your money.
