If amazon.com is going to offer burn on demand TV shows...

Rocko's Modern Life and Charles in Charge season 4 are two recent titles that amazon.com is offering on burn on demand DVD (or whatever the official name of the product is) but I would like to see shows that we'd never see on DVD otherwise, shows that have far too many episodes/seasons to justify season sets released to the general public, but that rabid fans may want to have.

I am thinking of old episodes of Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, and such. Perhaps even some soap opera type shows, such as East Enders.

I am sure there are other shows you could think of.

SNL where you can pick and choose skits would be fantastic, I know that's not going to happen though.

Late World with Zach would be great as well.

I would like to see Amazon get ahold of the NFL Films library and offer burn-on-demand.

That's an awesome idea. I am not a sports fan, so I would have never thought of it. But that's money in the bank.

Other live event specials would be cool as well...past episodes of the Golden Globes and the Oscars, for example. Stuff that may never see the light of day on DVD but something that die hard fans would eat up.

"The Adventures of Pete & Pete" Season 3 is a must, and I'm frankly not sure why it's not already out.

Maybe I'm just skeptical or cynical, but I'm not getting my hopes up about the kinds of shows such a service could have.

Somebody still has to author and master the content of these discs, and clearances would still have to be obtained. You know how much of a problem music rights are, and performances on the talk shows would be affected.

I wouldn't be surprised if the kinds of things they offer are shows that were already cleared and prepared for DVD, but the studios just decided not to press the discs because of expectations of low sales. Maybe it's easier for an abandoned show, since they may have already worked out a deal with the production companies to distribute the show on video. Then again, I don't know if they do a deal for a season at a time or not.

Personally I always thought that the WWE should do this, possible as a "Month of RAW"... add a collectible booklet with match listings on it and you'd make a ton of Wrestling fan dreams come true. Especially on special event shows like the draft... or the commemorative shows for Eddie or Owen.

how high of quality are the discs they use? do I have to worry about the regular problems that occur with homemade burnt discs?
