Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
I would imagine that they would. Target carries "Brazil" and "The Last Emperor," for example.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
The only Criterion I have ever seen at Target is FLiLV, which is weird because I have seen it in every single Target store it has ever been in. I wonder if they have some sort or weird deal that they will stock FLiLV in all of their stores.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
I still havnt seen any reviews for this but I did find this run time of extras on the R2. I would like to think this is what we get here on the 2-disk Criterion version as well:
# Commentary by director David Fincher # The Curious Birth of Benjamin Button * Pre-Production (RT 32:20; New Featurette) * Production Part I (RT 24:14; New Featurette) * Production Part II (RT 31:36; New Featurette) * VFX- Benjamin (RT 16:52; New Featurette) * VFX- The Chelsea (RT 8:50; New Featurette) * VFX- Youthenizationo (RT 6:21; New Featurette) * VFX- Performance Capture (RT 7:57; New Featurette) * VFX- The Simulated World (RT 12:50; New Featurette) * Sound Design (RT 16:29; New Featurette) * Desplats Interumentarium (RT 14:52; New Featurette; Interviews by Alexandre Desplat and the scoring of Benjamin Button) * Costume Design (RT 7:33; New Featurette) * Tech Scouts (RT 12:53; New Featurette) * Birth (RT 4:00; New Featurette) # Easter Egg (RT 2:00) |
Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
I don't see why it wouldn't be available everywhere. This was a HUGE movie. More mainstream movies like Life Aquatic and Royal Tenenbaums were everywhere (I remember specifically getting the 2 disc Life Aquatic at Walmart).
In for the Blu-ray, btw. |

DVD Beaver review: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRe...on_blu-ray.htm
Video looks pretty good. The commentary and the 3 hour long documentary sound great. |

It's still a shame that Brad Pitt isn't on the commentary. He's great on the Fight Club and Se7en tracks.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
So excited about the Blu-Ray release
Also I got a look at the packaging today for the SD (I do inventory at my workplace) and it's a clear Amaray with slipcover for anyone interested. |
Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
Just a heads up, no commentary, extras or scene selections on the Netflix DVD rental.
|
Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
$19.99 ($22.99 - $3.00 coupon) for a 2-disc Criterion SDVD is not such a bad deal.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
Never got it from amazon....damnit! They just emailed that they're sorry to not be able to get it to me. I pre-ordered the thing in March..why is not in my hands now?

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
I'm personally disappointed they didn't do anything creative for the artwork (also not a fan of the keepcases where you have one disc on each side), but otherwise, a solid DVD. The standard transfer is amazing.

Just got done seeing the review for this set on AOTS. Kevin calls it the "Criteri-Yawn Collection". |

The Blu-Ray doesn't; it has one on each side.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
Has anyone tried removing the "Director Approved" sticker from the slipcase? I want to see if it'll come off easily or if it will leave all the residue.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
I have never had such a hard time finding a slipcover in good condition. Every single slipcover at my Best Buy was either torn up, scratched, or falling apart. The slipcover I got was the best they had, and even it is in awful condition.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09
I got my copy of the 2 disc Criterion release at Wal-Mart yesterday for 24.96 and yes that is a darn good deal. I have two Wal-Marts and the other one wanted 29.96 so I just bought it at the one that had it for 24..lol!
