Yes, I thought it was a decent making of. Sad that you see the special fx guy that took his life after they finished the movie.

Re: Martyrs (R1)---04/28/09
The UK Optimum disc's making-of is 85 minutes long, making the US version probably a truncated version, as both of them are titled the same.Very good making-of so far.

Re: Martyrs (R1)---04/28/09
Did this have a slipcover? I ask because I just got it from Ebay and the cover is different than what I see around on every site. Could someone please post a pic of the art jacket under the slipcover if it does indeed have a slip? Thanks.

I appreciate the responses guys. As I suspected he shipped without the slipcover, annoying but I won't complain TOO much for the price

Re: Martyrs (R1)---04/28/09
FYI:
The Region 1 unrated is still cut/censored making it only somewhat unrated - according to Imdb. R2UK is TRULY UNCUT - full length French version. |

Dane, where are you reading that? The IMMDB listing says
USA:Unrated (uncut) Read more about on the IMDb forum board topic: 'uncut' American DVD still censored? |
Re: Martyrs (R1)---04/28/09
I seem to remember all of those "cut" scenes mentioned in that IMDB thread. I've seen the movie theatrically in the US and I own the Canadian dvd release. I've also skimmed through the Weinstein Rated R release, and that's where the cuts seem to be. I think these people may just be confused with that version. Someone mentioned that the uncut US release runs 97 minutes while the Rated R release runs 95 and the original french version runs 99. I measured the Rated R at 96 and my Canadian dvd at 99.

That's what they are saying on the IMDB forums. However, I don't have an unrated US disc to check the runtime or content.

Re: Martyrs (R1)---04/28/09
This is all just stupid and false conjecture on the imdb boards, sparked by one French reviewer who obviously had no clue what he was talking about. Then everyone believes the guy and creates an unnecessary panic when nothing is wrong.
The US unrated Weinstein DVD runs 99 minutes (I just checked it) and it includes all the shots that that ill-informed reviewer said were supposedly censored. |

Cameron's review is completely spot on. One of the most disappointing films of the decade.

Martys is just bananas. Jesus, I thought Hostel, Irreversible and Story of Ricky couldn't be topped. But this? This is just ummm, yeah...Pascal Laugier just made Eli Roth his bitch. |
