"Creating the Deadites" is a new feature, isn't it?

Good to see it's finally coming out.

As I said before, I'll hang onto my Boomstick Edition, but I'll probably pick up the Blu-Ray.

Now I'd just like AB to release the first Evil Dead on Blu (I know that may seem odd, but considering that film has a better "resolution" than a digital source...), so I can get the whole series on Blu.

That's what the MGM R3 Hong Kong release is for.

I don't have a region free player and wouldn't know how to get a copy of a foreign DVD though...

I hope that cover art's a subtle way of giving us a DMTH release.

Since you guys are all over this film in such detail:

I have the 'Bootleg Edition' somewhere, does that version suck? If so, how does it suck comparatively?

I'd love to see Darkman get remade. It'd be so much better if it had a big budget. Raimi remakes it, w/ Neeson. It's my dream remake.

It's a very rough looking version and many memorable one-liners are missing. If I'm not mistaken, Raimi didn't even have a complete cut of it himself and some of the gaps were filled in with bootlegs from fans.

I'm pretty sure the "Bootleg Edition" title means nothing at all. It was just a "standard" way of releasing the same content as the "Limited Edition" DC.

On the other hand, all the US DC footage looks like it was sourced from videotape, so maybe you're right. In any case, MGM remastered the DC from film elements so the aforementioned R3 DVD looks great, whereas all the Anchor Bay DC additions look like they're underwater.

The breakdown is:
Universal DVD (non-anamorphic Theatrical Cut, includes trailer)
Anchor Bay Limited Edition DVD (both cuts, includes deleted scenes, "Men Behind the Army" featurette, audio commentary, trailer)
Anchor Bay Limited Edition DC DVD (Director's Cut only, content identical to Disc 2 of LE DVD)
Anchor Bay "Bootleg" Edition DC DVD (content identical to LE DC disc)
Anchor Bay Special Edition DVD (Theatrical Cut only, content identical to Disc 1 of LE DVD)
Anchor Bay Boomstick Edition DVD (both cuts, content identical to LE DVD)
Universal HD-DVD Combo Format (remastered anamorphic Theatrical Cut on DVD side, includes trailer)
Universal "Screwhead" Edition DVD

I forgot to type in date! I meant to say I hope the AoD DVD was a subtle hint about the DMTH release date!

videohelp.com is your friend. You can find plenty of hack codes on the site.

This place is out of stock, but you never when they'll be in stock again...

To potential double/triple-dippers: I looked at this when I was at the store today, and it appears to have the exact same special features as the Anchor Bay Theatrical DVD (both SD & Blu-ray). No commentary. Just a featurette & alternate ending. Pretty half-ass.

(Though, as with most of the 9/15 Universal DVDs, it comes with a $5 coupon for "Halloween Candy". What a f^cking incentive, eh?)

I reviewed it. I don't have a link handy (see sig), but the featurette is indeed all-new and not from the Anchor Bay releases.
