Thank you.

I think I'll wait for the complete series set of X-Men until I take the plunge.

I already bought an...er...advanced copy on eBay, so I can watch the mutants until then.

When a full set comes out, it'll look nice next to this:

It'll be like High School after school programming all over again.

My favorite X-Tale was the Beyond Good and Evil Storyarc.

I really, really, really don't see Disney plunging on an complete series boxset with the X-Men cartoons. We're lucky we're getting the volumes alone as it is. I'd suggest buying this otherwise you'll be waiting for something that will never come to fruition.

I dont know, with they way they are touting how much its selling, maybe they want to make that money all over again.

I'm banking on it.

Never thought there would be a Batman TAS boxset, either, but I still waited for all the sets to come out before taking the plunge. Then, one day cruising the aisle of a local Best Buy, I was cock-slapped in the face by it.

Impulse buy. Immediate.

Trust me, your follow-on actions are all instinct after you get smacked in the face with the cock.

Disney is weird about shit like that. I could EASILY see WB do a set for Batman. But...I don't think Disney would do it..not for this.

This is in the bargain section but for anyone who didn't see you can preorder Volumes 3-4 from Amazon for $29.98 by adding both to your cart.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...ml#post9671418

Like I said before when Volumes 1-2 were coming out, everyone this appeals to needs to order these sets. Volumes 1-2 sold well over expectations to the point that Disney themselves said so in their press release for Volumes 3-4. Let's not let X-Men be another Gargoyles where the rest of the series doesn't get released because not enough people bought the DVDs. If you're an X-Men fan get these and encourage anyone else you think would be interested to do so.

And I have absolutely no proof of this, but I'm sure if these volumes sell well we'll not only get the rest of the series on DVD, but other Marvel animation too. Spider-Man had even fewer episodes than X-Men so if these DVDs sell well it's not too far fetched to imagine that Spider-Man will finally get the release it deserves. And I know Disney had several good chances to put Spider-Man out on DVD (such as when Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 came out), but maybe they'll do so when Spider-Man 4 comes along. So far all the X-Men volumes have been released to coincide with the Wolverine theatrical release and the Wolverine DVD release.

Preordered, but hoping I don't have to track down in-store slipcovers later.

Seems as though every store has slipcovers this time. Went to Walmart, Best Buy and Target, and all 3 stores had slipcovers for both vol 3 and 4.

I pre-ordered these from DVD Planet, as I had some store credit to use up.... but street date has arrived and no shipping notice yet. I called them, and they said their stock hasn't arrived yet. Argh..... why can't they have these in stock on the release day?

I'll wait till Amazon peeps can confirm slip covers or not.

best buy's got the same deal going on this week. when you buy x-men volumes 3 and 4, you can save an additional $5. right now, the bestbuy.com website has each title going for $16.99, so they're brought down to $14.49 each after the discount. seems like the best price i've seen (total: $28.98). amazon deal is probably best for most, but if you've got RZ certificates like i do and don't want to wait for shipping, it's another option. the promo is only online though, since best buy stores have the titles for $19.99 each, and if you have them price-match the $16.99 online price, the deals won't stack, so you've gotta just set it for in-store pick-up.

Mine from Amazon had slipcovers this time (which are going straight into the recycle bin -- I can't afford to give up the space unless they're different from the key art and essential to the package, like the 2-disc or Blu-ray Iron Man or Dark Knight).

..what? It's a slipcover...barely adds anything..I'd keep it, and I usually do.

Maybe not individually, but it adds up! 3 DVDs with slipcovers take up about the same amount of space as 3.5 - 4 DVDs without.

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

I got slipcovers from Amazon as well, but these are going into the trash. I didn't receive slipcovers for Vol. 1 and 2, so I'd like to have everything consistent.

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

I picked up my copies of Vol 3 & 4 at WalMart today. My store had them (with slipcovers) for almost $20 each, so I price-matched them both down to Target's prices.. after a lot of talking among the employees just because the cover looked a little bit different in the ad. :/

I have the Vol 1 & 2 slipcovers as well. They look so nice. I'd never think of throwing them out (though I never throw slipcovers out anyway :p).

I went ahead and ordered 3 and 4 from Amazon since one of them showed up in my Goldbox for a few cents savings. Not bad getting both for ~$28

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

This a really petty complaint, but does it bother anyone else that Volume 1 and Volume 4 have Wolverine on the spine? Volume 2 has Jean Gray/Phoenix and Volume 3 has Cyclops. I just think it would've made more sense to not repeat a character.

Oh well, at least they are keeping the artwork pretty consistent (spine, top border, bottom caption, etc.).

EDIT: I am a little bummed they are on the DVD in order of air-date and not production order. I hate watching the episodes with discontinuity.

I know others have already confirmed this but my order from Amazon had the slipcovers.

If it bothers you, Sabretooth is on the opposite side of the slipcover spine so just put it on the shelf backwards.

Do you think they'll release a series set? I grabbed volumes 2 & 3 used for $7.50 each a few weeks back, and I'll keep a lookout for the rest, but what are the odds of Disney releasing a series set?

Darknite39 12-23-09 08:41 PM

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

As long as it took to just get the series out, I doubt it, BUT the sales were evidently very good, so who knows? Maybe we'll get a mini X-mansion or jet or something. :)

Yeah, it took this damn long to get it on DVD as volumes...I don't give a fuck about a set. I'm just happy to finally get this shit. I doubt Disney would make a set for it.

Yeah, I can't see Disney releasing a complete series box since they haven't even finished off their own TV shows (i.e. DuckTales, Chip & Dale, TaleSpin, etc.).

A complete series boxset would be very nice the same day as the release of this final volume.

Awesome news!! So glad they are releasing the final episodes. I watched this series religiously when it originally aired.... and after all these years it has held up magnificiently. I've enjoyed these dvds every bit as much as I did when I watched these on tv all those years ago. These dvds have been worth every penny for me.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, either, although I'm not sure who holds the rights to that one.

If you read the comments on the link I posted, the artist mentions that there's "another superhero project coming up". Maybe Spidey's next perhaps{hopefully}?

All kinds of Marvel animation(including Spider-man and His Amazing Friends) are available in Region 2.

I believe ABC/Disney does own the Amazing Friends as well but who knows if they'll ever actually release it on DVD?

There's a little matter of that pesky Red Skull episode full of Nazi symbolism that they never want to show on TV anymore.

The set I have of the series (with most of the episodes taken off of ABC Family) has that episode but its like a copy of a copy with the bad look to it.

But that's the only way to get it nowadays.

Well the X-Men volume 5 will have Red Skull and Nazi Symbolism too...wonder if that'll be an issue? I don't think so...the X-Men show kinda had free rein for what it was. Of course...Did Logan ever chomp on a cigar in the cartoon?

Well, except for the Region 2 set.

As for rights, it's believed that Disney has the rights to all Marvel animation pre-2000 (ie before X-Men Evolution), with the exception of the 1967 Fantastic Four and The Thing from Fred and Barney Meet The Thing.
