Kill Bill aspect ratio US vs. Canada?

Hi. I just bought Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2 Blu-Rays from Canada when I bought my Sin City. I was told that they are the same discs as the US version just some French writing other case. However, the Canadian version is 2.35:1 the US is 2.40:1. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a big difference in the aspect ratio. Thanks for any info.

Are you referring to the aspect ratios as labeled on the Blu-ray cases? As in, the U.S. BD is marked as 2.4:1 while the Canadian BD is shown as 2.35:1?

There is no appreciable difference between the two aspect ratios (in fact, I believe films are framed at 2.4:1 with the intended theatrical presentation of 2.35:1 to allow for some of the image to be projected onto the frame of the screen).

It may just be a label anyway. Scope movies are really closest to 2.39:1, but it has been common to label them as 2.35:1 for a while. Recently they've been calling them 2.40:1 more, but I don't know if they're actually wider than before.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are titles available on DVD and BD as the same ratio on both, but labeled as 2.35:1 on DVD and 2.40:1 on BD.

Same exact disc, just a packaging discrepancy for sure.

Even though it may not make mathematical sense, the aspect ratio terms "2.35:1" and "2.40:1" refer to the same thing. The theatrical standard for "scope" projection changed to 2.40:1 (really 2.39 and change, usually rounded up) in the '70s, but people in the industry continue to refer to it as "2.35:1" out of habit.
