Cameron Crowe Redux (Elizabethtown, Vanilla Sky, Singles, etc.)???
So what ever happened to all the Cameron Crowe deluxe editions that never came out?
There was rumor of a SINGLES reissue for a while, which is sorely needed.
On the VANILLA SKY disc itself he mentions that that is just the first version, and there was an expanded edition in the works. The prevalence of the Cruise/Cruz relationship in the existing bonus material might indicate why that was killed, I suppose, as Crowe even mentions that the making of that film was like documenting the birth of a relationship. A relationship that no longer exists, obviously.
But what I'd like to see most is something more for ELIZABETHTOWN. The original release practically screamed that a better version would follow, and we all know how much footage was cut from the poorly-reviewed festival screenings. I'd find it fascinating to see the original cut, or at least the footage as separate deleted scenes. IIRC, Ashton Kutcher got fired after filming started, so there might even be some EricStoltzinBTTF-type footage we'll never see.
Is there more to this than just "Shitty Sales"? Any chance the Blu-Ray releases will finally come through?

I had no idea about Kutcher in Elizabethtown. The final casting wasn't stellar, but the material rose above the actors limitations, so it would definitely be interesting to see how poorly Kutcher fit in if Orlando Bloom was choice #2.

I checked with the fine folks at Vinyl Films and there is nothing new to report at this time.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep letting the "powers that be" know that we still want these..
thanks

I like Vanilla Sky. I'd buy a new edition. It'd be cool if we could get both VS and Abre Los Ojos on BD at the same time.
