Snake Eyes and La Bamba in April of 1999.
|
I got my DVD player on February 28, 1999 and I bought Austin Powers & The Truman Show that day, I can't remember which I bought first. I still have Austin Powers, I sold Truman Show years ago.
On a side note, my first Blu-Ray was Scooby-Doo and my first HD-DVD was a three way tie between The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and Land of the Dead. |

The same as the first VHS tapes I bought-
Citizen Kane Monty Python & the Holy Grail |
X-men the day it was released

Wow, I can remember the first VHS tapes my family bought around 1980 (Bananas & Annie Hall) and the first Laserdisc I bought back in 1986 (Freaks), but I cannot remember my first DVD.

Looks like "The Matrix" holds the most votes for 1st purchase. i know i had the snapper version but i don't see it listed in my online collection so i guess i got rid of it sometime after i got the UE disc.

Didn't even own a DVD player at the time, but it was Pink Floyd - The Wall (movie)
second, after finally getting a DVD player, was Fight Club - 2 Disc SE |
The Temptations (NBC 4 Hour Movie Event)
|
Supergirl - Limited Edition (1984) it was less than $10 and I love it...
|
First DVD I ever bought was the original special edition release of Little Shop of Horrors. I found it and bought it at a Suncoast on July 25, 2000, four months before I would actually have a DVD player. Paying $25 for a title that was out of print for 2 1/2 years at the time was the best bargain in town (considering that it was fetching high prices on eBay at the time). I still have it, although it is curently being borrowed. I will get it back one way or another.
To this day, it is the crown jewel of my DVD collection, which is currently at 771 DVDs. |

Star Trek: Insurrection. I bought it back in 1998 when I didn't even own a DVD player yet. However, it's long gone now as I upgraded it to the 2-disc version a few years ago.
The 1st DVD I ever bought when I actually got a DVD player was Rush Hour 1, which I still own today. |
I got my first DVD player in 1998. I bought Swingers, Blade and The Avengers (because it was the cheapest DVD in the store).

Road Trip Unrated

I think it was the original Goodfellas release, but I'm not positive.

Nurse Betty. Good movie to share with the wife.

It's a toss up between, Wag the Dog and Terminator 2. I actually don't remember the first BD, which is also a toss up between The Fifth Element and Stargate (a household staple for whatever reason)
|
Charlie's Angels
|
Proof of Life
|
I got my first DVD player as a present from my brother and I went out and bought Selena, Why Do Fools Fall In Love & Coal Miner's Daughter :)
