I was never a huge fan of "The Last Metro," personally...I was forced to watch it in high school french and I thought it seriously dragged compared to Truffaut's other films, but then again I haven't seen it since.

Where's the Naruse Eclipse set?!?

According to Criterion's site, both The Last Metro and The 400 Blows will be released on Blu-Ray on March 24th.

He is severely underrepresented on DVD, especially in R1, with only the Criterion release of When a Woman Ascends the Stairs. I treasure the MoC set, and keep hoping the BFI set will go down in price. I've managed to track down another half-dozen of his films online. Here's hoping a few of them find their way onto DVD this year.

Also DVd empire lists 3 other March '09 Criterions up for Pre-order
*Le Corbeau (The Raven)
*Quai Des Orfevres
*Variety Lights

Were these delayed from another month or something? Or are they re-releases of OOp titles? Anyone know what the deal with these titles are?

And, of course, the red and blue are reversed.

What's up with the awful cardboard packaging on Criterion's Blu-rays? I hope they come to their senses and start releasing in regular cases soon.

It's not just you. An identical comparison was made on the Criterion forum.

DVD Beaver's comparison of Dodes’ka-den. Looks like an excellent transfer.

Re: March '09 Criterions

I had no idea Danton was a March Criterion release until I saw it listed on Amazon tonight. One of the last films on my wanted list gets the Criterion treatment. Now I'm waiting for the African Queen and I'll be all set.
