The Blu Ray Association should buy the patent on the HD-DVD combo disc format and just be done with it

No thank you. I'm all for including a DVD version, but none of that two sided disc business. I hated DVD flippers and I hated HD-DVD combo discs.

I absolutely love digital copies (as long as I can play them on my iPhone).

I travel a lot for business and it's great having the ability to catch a recent flick during a long haul flight or even a flight from one coast to the other. Just a quick flick here, there, plug in my headphones and I'm entertained within seconds.

I've completely given up on even glancing at the flight movie.

I agree. I hate flippers and I hope that's one cancer that goes back to the laserdisc days that BluRay finally eradicates

Bonus DVD. Digital copies are bullshit. I'd go on about it but what can I really say that David Lynch already hasn't?

bonus dvd for me. . .i, like someone said before me, have no room on my ipod or pc for a digital copy. they seem kind of useless to me. . .

I vote digital copy. I like having Grandmas Boy on my ipod.

There's a lot of hate for digital copies in this forum, and while I agree it's baffling to watch a movie on a three inch screen, I would point out that there *are* cables to connect the iPod to a TV. Normally, of course, one would just watch the disc on the home theater equipment, but there is a portability issue that's nice for traveling. I mean, you can connect your iPod to the TV in a hotel room or if you're visiting friends or family, that kind of thing.

I'd take a hot, steaming pile of dog crap over a digital copy which to me is merely an excuse to separate me from $5 of my money while providing me with a fancy drink coaster.

Digital Copies are completely worthless to me. I personally think that all releases should be available without a digital copy at all. If you are forcing me to by the release with a digital copy, do NOT say that it is a 3-disc edition (for instance.) The digitial copy does not count as a an extra disc. It drives me crazy.

Well, since digital copies are absolutely pointless, I would take anything else, really.

I, too, own an iPhone; and I also really appreciate the digital copies.

For example, the Family Guy Star Wars parody "Blue Harvest" digital copy was viewed on my iPhone ... before I even took a gander at the DVD. The iPhone has a really nice high-def 16:9 Widescreen display and the viewing experience with the earbuds plugged-in can be quite satisfying. And it's certainly more convenient than carting around a portable DVD player. I viewed this title while waiting to pick up my daughter at her dance class.

And, yes: I know that there are programs available that will rip any DVD to a mp4 that can then be dragged into your iTunes library and then exported to your iPhone/iPod Touch. But those programs typically require one-to-two hours to run; and the resulting quality is usually not as good as the provided digital copies.

Anyway, a big thumbs-up from me for the Digital Copies!

Neither. I want standard two disc versions to be like they were before Blu-ray started.

The iPhone and iPod Touch both include 3 1/2" 16:9 Widescreen displays. When held about a foot from your face they seem plenty big!

Bonus Disc of course. It's also a great way to get more people to get curious about blu-ray and a good way for the already converted to have a standard def dvd for the portable player or kids room.

Bonus disc if I had to choose. It's just another way to mark up disc prices, so I would rather neither were included.

Talking about Blue Harvest... that isn't even widescreen, so it's smaller than movies would be. Still, if it works for you....

It does seem like studios are moving towards codes/downloads rather than an extra disc. That never made sense anyway... it's supposed to be the new high-tech way to watch a movie, but you distribute it on physical media?

Digital Copy. I use my 160 GB iPod all the time at work and while traveling. I have a boring job and equally boring coworkers so watching movies on my iPod while I work keeps me sane.

In my case, the digital copies have been a godsend and I've used every single one. The quality is great and they can't be matched by any DVD ripping software I've ever used (somehow they always come out screwed up no matter how great the software). Also, if I buy a movie on Bluray, I obviously can't rip it as my PC doesn't have a bluray drive.

Also, when you can watch digital copies on your PCs and laptop not just your iPod. And they look pretty good.

The bonus is that after a certain date, you can't access the digital copy if you need to get it again since the drm server may be down.

I'd rather get a bonus DVD with my blu-ray but if I don't get that, then I don't buy the bonus disc with the digital copy. I'll just make my own.
