Less then a month away now! And to keep everyone held over for another month Door Into Darkness came out yesterday! I just got my pre-ordered copy today, can't wait to watch.

Re: Finally...Four Flies on Grey Velvet!!!
My girlfriend was nice enough to pick this up for me while I was at work.
Great video transfer despite the fact that the print itself has gone through shit (very apparent during the film's final scene).
No subtitles for the Italian audio track which is a complete shame as the Italian track sounds a lot clearer than the English track.
I wish an isolated score was included or the soundtrack on a second disc. Yeah, I know I can buy the soundtrack on iTunes for $6, but I'm lazy.

I was surprised to see this at my local Best Buy yesterday. I picked it up for 19.99. It's the only Mya Communication release I've seen there.

My girlfriend, on her way to Zia (where they were holding me a copy), stopped at the Best Buy near her work. None in stock, but the employee was nice enough to see where else, and the one near my house had four copies in stock (go figure).
Point of the story is, always go to Zia Records as they'll have cult releases in stock on street date.

Re: Finally...Four Flies on Grey Velvet!!!
I checked Best Buy's on-line inventory and two BB stores nearby had it in-stock. When I went to the closest store, the DVD was not on the shelf. I gave the clerk the SKU and he looked it up on his system and he said it doesn't street until March sometime. I told him that the general BB website shows it streeted yesterday and that his store supposedly has it. He said "I'll check in the back" and came out a few minutes later with two copies. So ask them to check in the back if you can't find it. Considering the number of times I have had this same situation happen at Best Buy, I'm beginning to think they have a better selection of DVD's in "the back" than they do on the store shelves.
I had pre-ordered it from DVDPacific, but they are on-order for who knows how long. They got some in today, but they were all accounted for from even earlier orders. Seems at least one retailer underestimated the demand for this title.

I used to be an Inventory Supervisor at Borders, so I'm familiar with that stuff.
Back on topic, forgot this was out. Gotta pick it up soon.

The movie looks great and it's cool to finally hear what a certain character is saying in that 2 minutes near the end that was cut for the US release. Those brief moments are subtitled in English because there was no English audio track. It helps clear up the motivations of the character a bit more.
This has always been one of my favorite Argento films and it's a great thrill to finally have a pristine version of the film on homevideo. It's going to be hard for any other release this year to top this one.

How does this rank compared to his other stuff?
This is one of the few I haven't seen or don't own from him....

Looking forward to finally seeing Four Flies. Wish I had it for the October challenge so I could have had a little mini-marathon, but I'm just happy we're getting it at all.

I added Cat O' Nine Tails to the list about 2 weeks ago (along with Inferno about a month prior). Definitely the weakest Argento I've seen (although part of that may be that the DVD version I got through Netflix looked to be a piss-poor fullscreen rip of a VHS tape), but not bad.

Re: Finally...Four Flies on Grey Velvet!!!
Ya, there was a bootleg DVD of CAT O'NINE TAILS taken directly off an old bootleg VHS release - which was not only P&S, but also cut by maybe 20 minutes or so. The Anchor Bay release is the one to watch as it was uncut and in widescreen. That said, I agree it's not that great and is easily the lesser film in the animal trilogy by a large margin. I love PLUMAGE and FOUR FLIES, but I hardly ever revisit CAT. Still, even lesser Argento is worth watching at least once.
