I was excited when I saw this thread (already have the original box set), since I was assuming that a blu-ray set was soon to be available concurrently. Oh well...

Back to the Future parts 2 and 3 were misframed....lots of areas got chopped off.

Blu-ray! Blu-ray! Blu-ray!

Please?...

These are my favorites movies of all time.

smirnoffski 11-25-08 03:49 PM

Pass. The DVD trilogy is fine by me, so I'll hold out for the BR release (which better have all the extras of both DVD editions)

I, however, would not hesitate to purchase the animated series if they ever planned on releasing it

CertifiedTHX 11-26-08 02:58 PM

Never got the original release or the reissue (I heard the booklet from the former was not included in the latter), so I'm all over these. Great cover art, and awesome that the original extras are preserved.

NiCK Crush 11-26-08 03:26 PM

i'll buy the shit out of the blu-rays... otherwise, my DVD boxset is fine.

OldBoy 11-26-08 04:59 PM

so does anyone know if this "Back to the Future" ride featurette in on the R2 Ultimate Edition?

horroru 11-26-08 07:46 PM

Just an FYI, Target will have the BTTF Trilogy box set on sale next week for $14.99.

Gcomeau 11-26-08 11:09 PM

Too bad this won't be on the DVD's, this is so cool to watch

I'll wait for the Blu-ray rather than double-dip on SDVD.

xChri5x 11-27-08 02:41 AM

I'm definitely going for these. The cover art is way better than the crappy blue. It's the same as the VHS covers that we all grew up with and loved.
Plus I ended up with the full screen trilogy and have been meaning to sell it and buy the wide screen.

NiCK Crush 11-27-08 03:05 PM

I dont understand what they are waiting for as far as a BD release... seems like this would be as good a time as any.

Big Worms 11-27-08 03:20 PM

Same as others, will wait for BD release.

Timsterino 12-01-08 10:54 PM

Out of all of the movie series, this is most definitely my favorite! With that being said, I am NOT buying this until it is released on Blu Ray. I have the set from 2002 and I can wait for an HD release.

What the heck is wrong with Universal?

I had mine replaced last year, I believe. So I know it wasn't shut down that long ago, if at all.

one day.....before I die, I will see it and it will be everything!

Did the studio do it or was it through the replacement program that was set up?

mijorico 12-02-08 05:23 PM

I honestly don't know. I found a number on here, called it and they sent out the replacements.

I would think it was the replacement program because I only remember speaking to one person. It's not like I had to explain why I was calling or anything. They knew.

My Other Self 12-02-08 06:29 PM

The 1-800# was one specifically for the BTTF framing issue. It was setup and handled by Universal. You called the 1-800# and gave them your address. They sent you new discs after you sent in your old ones with some pre-paid envelopes.

nothingfails 12-02-08 06:57 PM

I like this idea. I hated pt. 2 (pt. 3 was okay but in a "once every five years" way) and pt. 1 is really the only "classic" in the series IMO. Granted, 2 and 3 finish the story, but the first one stands alone perfectly and is the only one I really love. So I might get it, depending on my finances in Feb

nothingfails 12-02-08 06:58 PM

regarding "no bluray, no sale". Do you guys remember how long it took us to wait for it on DVD? From what I recall, only Indiana Jones and the original Star Wars trilogy were longer waits. Blu is still practically in it's infancy, you can wait

Many of us already own the BTTF trilogy and the extras listed are not enough for us to want to buy it on DVD again.

They can release it on DVD all they want. But I don't have to buy it. Until they release it on Blu-ray, they aren't getting my money.

So I stand by my stance... No Blu-ray, No Sale.

mickey65 12-03-08 12:26 PM

Good. I've been waiting for the individual discs. I only liked the first one - the other 2 sucked. I couldn't see paying for the triology set and never watching the other two.

Guess I can retire the VHS of it now...

tylergfoster 12-03-08 01:07 PM

I have always thought the second one was ingenious but the third one was mediocre. The only problem is they're directly connected so if you take one then you have to take both.

Even if you don't like the story or whatever, I think even the haters have to admit there is cleverness in BTTF II in the parts where they return to 1955.

Darth Maher 12-03-08 02:26 PM

I LOVE Part II (the first is still my favorite) mainly due to all the jumping around they do. I agree the 1955 scenes (with their counterparts) was extremely clever.
