The Blu-Ray versions may not appear until at least the 25th Anniversary in 2010, but the 2-disc version of the first film sounds fine to me, I wish they did it for Raiders this year.

No Blu-Ray = ...wait a minute, I don't own a Blu-Ray player. Nevermind.

I'll most likely buy just the first film for the couple new features.

The ride footage is a nice surprise, and I've been waiting for that damn documentary for years (even if this is a truncated version). I'll take it. I'm sure it'll be less than $15. I'd pay that just to sort of experience the ride again (which I loved as a child).

So what is on this new disc that isn't included on the trilogy set?

Hi. Just curious, which documentary are you referring to? Was it never released on home video/DVD before?
Thanks

Looking Back To Future is a documentary that was never released on home video. In fact, nearly all of the second disc is new stuff. You even watch the Michael J. Fox Q&A in one sitting just like the current international releases of the film.

I'm happy with the first set I got, no need to double dip for me

Indeed, because they're most likely not even new transfers, and the originals weren't bad to begin with. I can definitely wait until the blu-ray versions.

Yeah, this is weak. Why re-release this thing if they're not going to put it out in a Blu-ray edition too.

3 of my favorite movies, but no reason for me to buy again... I still want to see again the special that aired on NBC one Friday night, that previewed the new NBC Saturday morning lineup, called "Back to Next Saturday"... I guess this would have to be 1985, I can't be the only one who remembers this, I know I'm not crazy.

EDIT:

Ok, found it listed at Wikipedia...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturda...eview_specials

1985 - Back to Next Saturday (hosted by Keshia Knight Pulliam and Lisa Whelchel)

I have a copy of the 1986 special, got it in trade from a Soleil Moon Frye fan...

I've got some fond memories of those Saturday morning preview specials but I imagine that the rights issues would be too complicated to allow DVD releases. Those specials were comprised of clips of various shows.

Looking Back At The Future was a feature length, fan-produced documentary about the trilogy. Like the Firefly/Serenity 'Done The Impossible' one, it was high quality and involved key players in the movies. It had been screened a few times and was about to come out on DVD when Universal issued a cease and desist. Now, years later we see why. (I assume) they bought it, chopped it up to only cover the first film and used it to get my sorry ass to double dip. Well played, Universal. Well played.

I didn't buy the 2002 release because I was waiting for HD! Well . . . okay and I had seen them sooooo many times on LD.

If there is no Blu release there is something seriously wrong with Universal and/or Spielberg.

Well, there is a rumor that it might hit BD next fall. This could be one last try to sell it on DVD before then.

So I never exchanged my Part II and III in the recall for the improper framing. Is it too late?

I tried a phone number I found on a website and got a gym's number. Anyone know?

I don't think the gym will swap out your discs.

Sorry...I couldn't resist.

Dude, that was 5 years ago. I'm sure they probably shut down the replacement program a year or so after they started it. They also started putting the corrected discs into the regular release.

You could probably write to them and see what they say. But, if you've been fine with them for that long, why would you want 'em corrected now?

I never got around to doing the exchange, and then last year for kicks I called to see if I could, and they let me. So who knows, they might still be doing it.

To buy or not To buy...

My guess is that when these 3 dvds get released they'll go for 22.99-16.99 and within 1-3 months they'll drop in price to 9.99 or 8.99 ... the same thing that happend to the Indiana Jones trilogy and Godfather trilogy i think it took the 3 weeks for stores to have the I.J trilogy for 9.99... i saw best buy had them for 8.99 about 2 weeks ago ... ive seen the Godfather trilogy dropping in price aswell ... black friday 6.99 for part 1 ...

ill probaby buy BTTF 1 for the disc edition and BTTF 2 for the corrected frame problem ... i have the incorrected one

What exactly was the framing issue? I remember hearing about it when they were released but never followed up.
