I have this one:
I've never seen the movie before (gasp!) but DVDEmpire had a used copy for 51˘ and I needed to find a third DVD to get free shipping, so I figured why not...
I actually bought it back in April, but haven't watched it yet; I figure since I've never seen it, the first time I watch it should be at Christmas time.

I, personally, can't wait for this to start. Last year I had such a crappy holiday, because my semester in school was going terribly and my father hurt his back so I was taking care of him and it was so much stress, even when school ended I was still stressed beyond belief. But this year, my semester in school is going great, and I love the holidays. Can't wait! I just always have a problem with wanting to watch my Christmas movies right away, but I must wait until after Thanksgiving!

We can watch thanksgiving movies after Thanksgiving still, right? I'm thinking of buying the Garfield holiday special collection with the Thanksgiving episode, but I won't have the money until after Thanksgiving.
I also want to buy the Night Before Christmas with the little mice. There are some on eBay and I'm thinking of doing it just because I love that special so much. I still need "White Christmas" and "A Miracle on 34th Street" in my collection too.

Have you seen the remake? I don't want to be all anti-remake because I usually enjoy the horror remakes, but I can't imagine it was anywhere near as good as the original.

Which remake? I think we've had about 5 versions of it. If I recall, I've seen 3 or 4 of them and they aren't horrible, but nowhere near as good as the original, imo.

Really? I thought there was only one. Shows how much I know about movies. 
The one I'm taking about came out in the 90s I think. It looked cute but there's no touching the original for me. I wish I could buy it and watch it now. I have to actually restrain myself from watching "It's a Wonderful Life" until the challenge starts. I'm impatient. :-p

My mom had the VHS copy from many years ago, but I never watched it though. A couple of years ago, my mom was watching it and forgot to eject the tape from her VCR, which was set to record something later that night. For some reason, they record tab was still on and the "It's A Wonderful Life" got erased.
I've been tempted to pick up this version, but at this point I'm wondering if I should just wait for Blu-ray.

There was a TV Movie version of MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET in the 70's with Sebastian Cabot as Kris, and Jane Alexander and David Hartman in the Maureen O'Hara and John Paine roles. Not bad, but not particularly memorable either. There was also a Broadway musical version called "Here's Love" in the early 60's, but there's no recorded performance version available.

For not only does the release feature the original black & white version shown in theaters and the circa 1980s colorized version of the same feature film, but also hidden away on the second disc is the curiously titled "20th Century Fox Hour of the Stars: The Miracle on 34th Street," which turns out to be a 46 minute 1950s remake for television that is surprisingly in incredibly good quality.

For anyone who can answer this, I decided to order the Black Christmas remake that came out a few years ago, but have been thinking about getting the original as well. Would it be worth my time, how do the two versions compare to one another. It will be good to have a christmas horror flick to watch along with everything else.

I'm currently in the middle of adding my list and Trevor's list from last year. I figured between the 700 titles we watched, it would cover a lot of titles. I've already noticed quite a few doubles I didn't delete. That will be resolved shortly.
(Damn you Trevor for putting your comments on the same line as the title, it took some ingenious search/replace methods to delete that stuff)

well, i recently saw:

"The Nightmare Before Christmas"
i also just saw two season 2 episodes of the "West Wing" that would qualify:
"Shibboleth" (Thanksgiving)
"Noel" (X-mas)
so i guess i jumped the gun, but i will hold off on my annual ritual of watching "Love Actually". i can't wait to see that one again!!
