Blu Ray buyers: what have you done with your DVDs which were replaced with a Blu Ray?

For all the DVDs you have replaced with their Blu Ray counterparts, what have you done with those DVDs? Sold them? Kept them? Give them away?

I think when the day comes that I make the jump to Blu-Ray I'll donate them to a library or good will.

As DVDs are only worth a few $'s second hand and not worth the hassel posting them I have started giving them to my god-daughter. As the Blu-Ray of that title is released I remove the DVD.

Up to 150 Blu-Ray titles and many more coming over this month and next.

Two words: DVD Planet.

Ok, one word and an acronym.

I've kept all of them because none of the Blu-rays have all the special features the SD versions do. Way to get people to hop onto a new format by offering less!!!

Gave a few to my brother. I got FYE credit during one of their brown bag promotions for the titles that had decent trade-in value.

I trade them in to FYE for some decent store credit. I only keep the standard DVD when special features are exclusive or not on the blu-ray (thanks FOX!)

Trade, sell, or give away.

I've held onto my Criterion "Seventh Seal" due to seriously excellent extra features not on the Tartan blu-ray, and also my Criterion "Life of Brian" for one, somewhat more minor extra feature.

This is exactly why I haven't sold the few DVD titles I also own on Blu-ray. It isn't worth it.

DVD PLANET !!!

The greatest aid to my Blu-Ray collection.

I've literally traded in hundreds of DVDs for them, build up store credit, & stock it up for the 20% off sales.

I'll sell the Criterions on Amazon, since they'll still have a high resale value, and sell the rest to DVD Planet.

I havn't double-dipped yet purchasing blu-rays when I own the SD. But there are a couple of titles that I have been looking at "The Lost Boys" and the eventual "The Goonies". I will probably give the SD's to my parents.

I only got into Blu-ray a week ago, and all my discs (5 of them) are BD upgrades of SD DVDs. I see no harm in keeping them unless I know I can get a few more BDs by trading them for some kind of credit/discount.

I usually end up selling them to used DVD stores. In some cases like when the Rambo trilogy came out I sold my First Blood Blu-Ray to help pay for the trilogy. But that's not exactly getting rid of DVDs.... Never mind, I'm stupid.

I own a couple like that, but only have them because they were part of the 5-free promotion. Never would have owned them otherwise. Gotta love a format that has 5x the capacity of DVDs yet often offers less in terms of special features.

The day they start wising up by carrying over all the supplemental material from their DVD counterparts and offer all the same special packaging (e.g. "The Nightmare Before Christmas") is the day I start buying more.

I've sold a few to friends. The rest I've traded in to Hastings for store credit.
