Mars Attacks SE?

I heard on DigitalBits.com that "Mars Attacks" is being re-released on 10/28

Does anyone know any more details? (Extras, etc)

DVDEmpire has it up for pre-order, but with a $9.97 SRP, I wouldn't expect any new extras. They do have it listed as being in a keep case, for those who care about that sort of thing. (I don't)

It was one of the first DVDs to come on the market. I rememember it running on a TV next to a LD at Ken Cranes in O.C. and telling my wife that it would never catch on because it was just a couple clicks above a LD in clarity...

Let's not buy this until they release it in BD...nothing less!!!

Yeah, presumably this and The American President, among others, are just keep-case reissues. They were mentioned on The Digital Bits a few days ago.

I've pondered that myself, but if this is nothing more than a reissue, all they are likely to do is take the existing disc and repackage it in a keep case.

I rather doubt The American President will ever receive decent treatment on DVD. I'm sure we'll see a lovely Blu-ray transfer one day, but whether the studio provides a DVD upgrade along with it seems highly questionable.

Reissues do not upgrade. Reissues are the same disc in new packaging.

This is also one I'm waiting for a (hopefully) BD release.

Would love to see The American President on Blu-ray - i think its just a matter of time before blu-ray rules the world . . . dvd speaking, of course!

Statements like this constantly popping up make me wish BR had never fucking come out at all.

Oh, and I'd also like a Mars Attacks SE.

Mars Attacks is a neat movie. I have it. But I don't need an upgrade on this.
I don't need to upgrade every DVD I have just the ones that I really like
that's not to say I don't like the Mars DVD just that I have to pick and choose which DVD movie re-releases to buy and then re-buy and then re-buy again, etc.

According to the back cover art at DVDempire, you are correct. The new (keepcase) release even has both the FS and WS versions on the original release. All the other features seem the same. I can't tell if it's a DVD-9 or 10, but the original was a 10 (with the FS and WS versions on different sides of the disc), so I'm assuming that this is also.

A Mars Attacks! SE would be really nice.

A new cleaned-up transfer, all the previous features, deleted scenes, features on the making of...

Re: Mars Attacks SE?

One of my all time favorites. If it got the 4K treatment, I'd double-dip in a second!!!
