Actors who give good audio commentaries?

By and large, I find many actor commentaries to be dreadful affairs. But, alas, some of them actually have insightful things to share. What are your favorite audio commentaries given by actors?

A few that come to mind:

1. James Woods on Videodrome
2. Malcolm McDowell on Caligula, Clockwork Orange, and Time After Time
3. Bruce Campbell...just about anything

(worst actor commentary I've recently listened to would have to be Selma Blair's participation on the Hellboy Director's Cut, I wanted to gag her)

One of the best actor commentaries I've listened to was from Naked Weapon.

Maggie Q and Bey Logan were doing the commentary and it was really entertaining and funny.

I've also really enjoyed Kiefer Sutherland's commentaries on the season 5 and 6 premiere episodes of 24.

I also really enjoyed listening to the Lord of the Rings extended version commentaries with the actors.

Kirk Lazarus doesn't even break character until after the DVD commentary.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Ben Affleck (technically I could cheat and say Smith himself) and Jason Mewes (when sober), Kurt Russell and the cast of Futurama.

I really like Val Kilmer on the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang commentary (although I hear he is kind of a dick in real life)

Macauly Calkin's Commentary with Chris Columbus on the Home Alone dvd is probably one of favorites from an actor.

I've never heard a commentary track from him, but I noticed that Sylvester Stallone tends to be a really good interview.

How is he on his commentary tracks?

Sly's commentaries are actually quite good. He's a very articulate guy and explains the filmmaking and writing process of his movies very well.

Val Kilmer is good on any commentary he does.

I like him on 'Spartan'.

Yep I'd agree with that one, his commentary on both Rocky Balboa and Rambo are great. The one on Rocky is informative but I never finished listening to it. I wish he'd do commentaries on Rocky II-V and I heard he'd like to, I guess MGM (or Fox) have to get on top of this.

Kevin Smith has the greatest audio commentary tracks, by far. I even watched Road House just for him and Scott Mosier.

I also love the Carrot Top track on Rules of Attraction.

I read previously that the girl from Joyride has a horribly entertaining commentary track on the DVD, I picked it up but havent had the chance to listen/watch yet.

I have both The Rules of Attraction and Joyride, but havent ever listened to those commentaries... I will definititely put it on my to do list. Why though, does Carrot Top even have a commentary on Rules of Attraction?

Thats the point, why? On the back of the case it does say surprise guest. And that's him. I have listened to it and it is great. Especially in the sex scene.

I for one enjoyed the commentary by Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott on "Dude, Where's My Car?" Of course, it's only going to be appealing if you like the brand of humor of that movie. Otherwise, the commentary track isn't going to make the movie more interesting.

I enjoyed Kevin Conroy's commentary on the recent "Batman: Gotham Knight" feature. He's joined by Denny O'Neil and someone else from DC Comics, so it's not a solo commentary, but it's interesting. Conroy shares a great September 11 anecdote.

I second that!

Oh...

Wait...

I think I misunderstood what you were implying.

Never mind.

Weird Al's commentary on UHF is really good. He gives some good info, tells some stories, and is funny.

Yeah, Russell has an infectious laugh. Imagine if he somehow got to do a commentary with Terry Gilliam.

The 5 "Wonka Kids" on "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" provided the most fun I've had listening to a commentary in years!

The ones that do it the best all seem to be actor/directors:

Sly Stallone, Kevin Smith, George Clooney, Mel Gibson, etc.

Love it anytime Milla Jovovic does a commentary. I think it's the Resident Evil commentary where she just seems so laid back & down to earth, making fun of herself & talking about video games & dorky stuff.

Could not believe he wasn't mentioned within the first couple of posts. One of the few actors whose commentaries I can listen to more than once...
