I haven't watched this show since I was a kid in the 90s watching the syndicated reruns on TV so I don't know how well this show holds up.

Even back in the 1970's when I was watching this as a kid in reruns, they only ran the color episodes (Seasons 3-7). These earlier black and white seasons have rarely been seen since the original airings.
I bought the MPI set and found the earlier ones to be better than the more familiar color shows, and I am in for this set for sure. Hopefully Paramount will at least follow with the second year so these long unseen episodes will no longer be out of reach.
Now, if only MGM would get the last 3 seasons of "Green Acres" on the market!

The Official 1st Season means all 38 episodes? I may have to upgrade for this. I love this show. I've only seen 21 B&W episodes, but I've seen all the color ones. I agree with Steve, I like the B&W ones better and can't wait for Season 2. I hope these sell good enough so we eventually see all 7 seasons on DVD.

Since Green Acres was a spin-off of Petticoat Junction and many cast members appeared on Green Acres why does MGM own the rights to the one while Paramount owns the rights to Petticoat Junction?

Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Beverly Hillbillies, Mr. Ed, Addams Family(that I can think of) were Filmways Productions, an independent company. MGM has some, Paramount others.
