Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

Got my set in today. All the discs have scratches on them, some more than others. Not sure what to think about this.
My "Alfred Hitchcock Premiere Collection" has DVDs that slide into cardboard pages of a book, but it doesn't have this problem. No scratches on those discs at all.
I'm hoping I don't run into the same problem as I did with my "I Love Lucy" complete series set. I had to get two replacements and piece a good set together.

Anyone had playback problems on their F13 discs?

Agreed.

I don't understand how anyone could think it's a good idea to put optical discs in a package where you have to slide them a tight piece of cardboard to remove them.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

Got a call from Amazon today. They're not fulfilling exchange orders because of the customer complaints that have been received. I guess there have been so many that they've got to wait until they get a shipment of non-defective ones in. The representative I spoke to said that they're doing return/refunds instead. This is kind of sad, seeing as how quite a lot of people have been looking forward to this.

My set arrived today via FedEx. My discs aren't too scratched up. In fact, most of them are mint. Rather than take any chances though, I put them into a binder.

This pisses me off. Been sitting here thinking of what the hell I should do. Its a xmas gift for my son and I know he would be thrilled to rip off wrapping paper and see this set, BUT its pointless if they are scratched to hell and wont play right. Guess in the morning Im gonna do the refund bullshit.

Does Amazon let people know if they do get different/better sets in?

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

For me, I was told by a representative to call back in a week to do the order. I'm not sure if they'd actually post it on their site or not, but it would seem not. Why I find odd is that Amazon knows the sets are defective and won't fulfill exchanges, yet it's still up for sale on the site.

I only have the DE of the 1rst film so I was looking forward to this new set but after hearing all the trouble with scratched discs theres no way I'm going to touch it! Is there any word on a a repackaging in the near future to rectify this situation???

So annoying that they can't just release discs that have all available special features from every edition and leave it at that. You would think that they could/would do something like that for the BD. This set would be awesome as a BD release if they did that, and the scratching really wouldn't be an issue either.

These are the better 4 (this set comes with glasses for part 3 like the big set does also)

Don't put them in a binder. They'll still get scratched up. Maybe not as quickly as sliding them into cardboard, but they will eventually. Better of using cd cases.

I reviewed this set for DVDTalk here: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/51220...te-collection/

My discs were scratched. I had to get most of 'em buffed.

I'm OCD with my discs so they'll be fine in my binders. I've got tons of discs in binders, the vast majority of which are mint. It's all about how you handle your things.

For anyone who has purchased this set in-store (I recently saw it at Wal*Mart), are the discs scratched up like the orders Amazon has been sending out?

Sort of like the recent season of The Simpsons where one season had fold out pages that you slid the dvds into. They were sort of like those cheap $1 dvds with the cardboard cases that have a slit opening on one side. Just a bad idea all around.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

How is sliding the discs in and out of cardboard sleeves different from paper sleeves which are used all the time by some companies? There's no way of carefully sliding them into cardboard unless you wrap them in a soft cloth first.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

I was wondering, does that 4-pack have the Deluxe edition of the movies?

Also, as someone said before: If I get this from a brick/mortar store, is it less likely to be scratched? I know they're still trucked there somehow... so probably not. If I do get it, they'd go into separate paper slips immediately.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

Bought the new set as an Early X-Mas gift for one of my best friends who doesn't own any of the films.

I have to say, in person the set looks pretty slick. Luckily, none of the discs in her set were scratched at all.

I wonder if they'll release another 4-pack with V, VI,VII, and VIII...

Paramount, listen: if you come out with a similar set, except in HD, I'll be all over it.

The DVD set looks good enough. I highly doubt that Blu will ever see the variety of good bargain budget sets like the Friday the 13th Parts 1-4 Deluxe Edition set.

Ran into this at Wally World yesterday. I already owned the DEs for parts IV & V, so getting the previous three for just $13 was a no-brainer.

Kudos to Paramount for actually packing all 4 individual discs (And the glasses) in this set.
