I won't be buying this (I already own Seasons 2-6), but if they release an unedited version of Season 1 by itself (I hope), I'll definitely pick that up.

If all of the episodes are REALLY unedited this time, then I'm in for 1. I held off on the single seasons because I was hoping they'd fix the error eventually.

I'll pass since I have so many of the individual seasons. But this a good price for the complete series.

Yeah, I enjoyed certain seasons of the show, but I don't really think I'd revisit it. Especially the whole series at once. Seems like a great price though.
What was edited out of S1?

A few minutes of each episode. They're the syndicated versions. See DVDTalk review.
For those unfamiliar with the concept of "syndicated" episodes, footage is dropped from each episode so that extra commercials can be played. And these are the versions included in the inaugural DVD collection.

Totally buying this, I have the first box set but apparently it has been confirmed that they are releasing the original episodes.
And duh...yes it should come in a sweater!

They should also let you pay for the set with Monopoly money.

No wonder you get D's in everything.

I already have 1-6 so I won't get the set. I would pick up season 1 if they released it with the originals. Even though I already have most of Season 1's originals on Columbia House DVDs.

I decided to go ahead and buy the set after all... once I saw that I could order it from DeepDiscount for only $64.57 during the 25% off sale. I haven't seen the set yet, but this quote from a review that I found is encouraging:

What immediately stands out about this set is the efficient packaging: All 8 seasons are packed together in a nice, neat little box (at the reasonable price of $138.98). As someone who has all 9 seasons of Seinfeld on DVD in various bulky formats and very little shelf space for them, trust me when I say whoever designed the packaging for this did a fine job.

Same here, ordered it from DD for that impressively low $64, and am very impressed by the small size.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered it as a gift and it's backordered. Hopefully they can fulfill it by Christmas.

Anyone else open this and check out the discs? The package LOOKS nice, but I hate anything where the discs slide in and out of cardboard-like paper stock. Not good. But, the worst thing is that EVERY disc I have seen that is placed on the bottom has a horizontal line of some sort of gunk across it. This line lines up with where the bottom disc overlaps the slit for the top disc. I can't imagine these discs will play as is. I'd also be surprised if this isn't widespread given that I have checked out 4 seasons in the set and they all look exactly the same...

I got mine from DeepDiscount today, and noticed the same thing. I wish I hadn't ordered it now. I did pop in one of the many discs that had gunk on it, just to see if it would work, and it did. I didn't watch the whole thing, just went into one of the episodes at random to make sure it would play. I can't believe studios still use packaging like this, with all the problems it causes.

I stuck one in and fastforwarded through. It did make it without locking, but still... that's just one and some look worse than others. I have yet to find contact info for First Look about replacements. They list a physical address on their website and an e-mail address for HR.

It sucks, because I just sold seasons 1-6 and exchanging these won't do any good if they are all like this...

That does suck, but just to throw it out there I've gotten a few of these complete series with the cardboard sleeves and never had a problem with them. Like I Love Lucy, Brady Bunch and X-Files.

This is no longer on Amazon and says its been discontinued by the manufacturer. Is this because of the packaging issue?
