How is it that The Magnificent Ambersons hasn't even cracked the top 100 yet?

How is it that the #1 movie -- Notorious -- is something that has had at least two R1 releases, one of which you can buy via a link on TCM's own website?

i'm confused, I thought a number of this are available or soon to be available. The picture of dorian gray was just announced, wasn't it? and wasn't Possessed (w. Joan Crawford) in the Joan Crawford collection?

I was thinking the same thing about Notorious. TMC definitely needs to get it out of the list, since it has already been released by Criterion and is coming later this year from MGM.

How many best picture nominees are not on that list? Who made that list?

Legend of the Lone Ranger from 1981 is a classic???

I voted for the Magnificent Ambersons. If that hadn't been there I would have picked African Queen or Wuthering Heights (that one has been released but not for a long time). Porgy and Bess would be high up too, I'm pretty sure it's never been released on any home video format (in R1 anyway).

I can only guess African Queen is really in bad shape since it was promised in the past and never came out.

Voted for They Might Be Giants. Terribly underrated A+ film

They don't care if these films are released or not. All they really want is your email address.

You can say that for many of these films. It's more about older films that have a loyal fan base. And, yes, I like "Legend of the Lone Ranger" mostly because I remember my parents enjoying it back when it was released.

African Queen.

I finally gave in and picked up this, and a few other classics on ebay for about $4 each. They might be Asian boots, but they played perfectly, no burned in subtitles, all the extras of the oop region 1 releases.

Many of those movies already exist on DVD, if not on NTSC DVD, on PAL DVD....

While "Song of the South", "The Uninvited" and "The Strawberry Blonde" were all tempting, I voted for "The Canterville Ghost".

Just watched this last week. What a great ending! Very 70's. This has been rumored as a future Criterion release.

I guess I'm a heathen. The only movie on that list that I'd consider buying is Song of the South. Vote cast.
