The Ultimate Oliver Stone Collection

Who here owns this boxset and how do you guys like it? Is it double sided and how are the features and total look of it?

I'm really liking to buy this one, just want to see some opinions first.

I like it. I paid $70 for it and if your an Oliver Stone fan, you will probably love it. The only thing to note is The Doors is missing Disc 2 and JFK is the single disc edition.

But, if your a fan of any of the films in the collection, then buy this set.

I don't own it, but would not recommend. Half the movies in the set have better versions available. There's even a new version of Nixon coming out. The only thing it has going for it is the Castro doc, which I believe is exclusive to the set.

In retrospect, I would only recommend it if you can find it really cheap and only care about the movies. Born on the 4th of July is actually the current SE on that set.

I was able to snag it for $29 from f.y.e. after spotting a thread in Bargains.

Wow $29 is a great one...

on Amazon, a seller is giving it away for 33 right now which is a nice deal

But are you saying every movie has 2 discs with it? Wow thats great, well besides The Doors and JFK.... but I've seen JFK twice already so I'm good with that

No that's not what I'm saying. The Doors was pulled from a 2-disc Artisan release and they only gave you Disc 1. JFK was originally released as a 1-disc R rated version and that is in this set. There is a 2-disc JFK that's been out a number of years. Everything else is a single disc release.

I got it at FYE a few years back for $35 with a $25 mail in rebate, so it was 10 bucks. The only reason I got it was the Castro doc, seeing as it's the only way to get it. The only films of his I've ever really gotten into were Salvador, and Natural Born Killers, I didn't really care for the Doors flick, and the others I haven't watched.

I have it and I like it. I have supplemented my personal collection with the JFK 2 disc, Platoon 2 disc and the newer version of The Doors

I got the real set for something like that on eBay too. Anyone who puts it up with a low opening bid is probably going to be disappointed at how much it sells for. And mine is certainly not a bootleg - it had the FYE price sticker on it, too.
