Breathless Question
I recently quit drinking for awhile and have found how much better it is to spend money on other things I want rather than 3 or 4 pints of Guinness five times a week. In fact, lately I am on a DVD tear and can't stop buying them. I am picking some classics I happen to love and since I am bulk buying, I am only really looking for used DVD's. I was just getting previously viewed from Blockbuster but now I started grabbing as much as I can from Half.com. I know, I know,..."I don't hear a question in there..."
I am a big fan of Godard and love BREATHLESS. I am sure the Criterion has plenty of ample supplementals but do I really need all that. Is the Criterion a must or is the standard issue (play movie, subtitles, scenes version) really all I need?

Yes, the Criterion disc is indeed the best-looking version available on the market. It is essential that you obtain the Criterion disc and not the poor previous hacks.

the criterion is indeed an improved picture, i guess you could say vastly improved...
the answer to the question do you "need" it is only answered by you...
i personally like to get the best version of a film i can on DVD, as long as it's not OOP and like hundreds of dollars...

I have the Criterion version from last year, and I'm quite happy with it.
P.S. - There's also much to be said for tipping back a few pints every now and then.....

Congrat.'s on the choice to go sober. And a "few pints every now and then" is a bit different from 3 - 4 pints five times a week (which comes to 15-20 pints a week).
Can't comment on the Criterion question though, but it's a good bet that once you go Criterion, you can't go back.

I own both the Fox Lorber and Criterion version. The Criterion release is a definite buy. Even if you aren't gonna watch the extras, the picture quality is far superior.
